Chapter 44: Culprit

WINTER'S POINT OF VIEW

While Flinn and I are talking, my phone suddenly rang. I excused myself to her before I answered who called me.

"Hello, Dad?"

"Anak, your friend Lauren is here with another two of your friends," he said in the other line that made my forehead twitched.

"What are they doing there, Dad?"

"They told me that you are supposed to have your graduation celebration."

Oh, sh*t! I totally forgot about it! "I'll be there in a minute, Dad!" I ended the call after it. "Flinn, can you just stay here? Or if you want, you can come with me."

"I would rather go around in this house or follow Kuya and Mom than to go with you, Winter."

I just sighed before I went inside my car and drove to our mansion. "Did you forget about our celebration, Winter?" Lauren asked me after I arrived.

I looked at Dad to ask if he already said what happened to Tita Fiona, but he just shook his head. "I'm sorry if I forgot, Lauren. Something just came last night."

"Huh? What happened last night? And where are Louiegie and Flinn? We went to their mansion earlier, but they aren't there."

"There had been accident last night, and Tita Fiona was hit by a car," I informed, sighing.

Just like what I expected, she was shocked. "How is Tita Fiona now? Can we visit her?"

I shook my head, looking down. "You can visit her, but unfortunately, you will visit her in the cemetery. She died last night, Lauren."

"What?! Why didn't you tell this to us?" Lauren exclaimed. When I looked at Ryu and Aerin, they are also sad.

"This is all sudden, Lauren. If you want, we can go to Flinn. Their parents and Louiegie went somewhere, so she doesn't have someone beside her right now." Dad excused himself and left us. "We can also reschedule our celebration."

They agreed to reschedule our celebration, so we can go to Flinn. They also asked me why is she in the Azelart's mansion, but I just said that she missed being there.

While we're on our way, I told them what happened last night that made them sadder. I didn't say to them that we are currently investigating the killer of Tita Fiona because I don't want them to be involved.

When we arrived, Flinn's car isn't there anymore! Argh! I guess, she really followed Tita Lianca and Louiegie, or maybe, she just went somewhere. I hope, she did the latter one.

"Where is she now, Winter? I thought, Flinn's here," Lauren asked, looking around.

"I don't know, Lauren. Maybe, we can find her by walking around their mansion. You can go with Ryu and Aerin can go with me." Aerin went to me while Lauren and Ryu went upstairs.

"I know that you know why is Flinn isn't here, Winter," Aerin whispered.

I looked at her and she is just looking at me. I swallowed hard. "If ever I will tell the reason to you, can you promise that you won't tell this to Lauren and Ryu? I don't want them to be involved anymore, Aerin."

She agreed that she won't say it to them, so I told her all that I know. "R-Richard S-Salazar?" she shuttered, and I nodded.

"Yes, why, Aerin?"

She immediately pulled me. "Come with me, Winter. I know where is he."

Even if confused, I still go with her, leaving Lauren and Ryu in Azelart's mansion. "Where are we going, Aerin?"
