SPARK OF LOVE
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday! Happy birthday to you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOUIEGIE!!!"
I smiled as I looked at my classmates and friends. "Thank you, guys!" I shouted.
Mom and Dad went near me, smiling while holding the cake. "Make a wish, Louiegie," Mom said. I closed my eyes as I wished. "What did you wish?" Mom asked after I blew the candles.
I smiled as I recalled my wish. "I wish I can know her genuine feelings for me."
"I shouldn't tell you, so it will come true, Mom," I said that made Dad laughed.
"You still believe in that saying, son?" Dad asked while laughing. I didn't answer him, that made him laughed more. "You're already 18 years old, son. So, what did you wish?" he repeated Mom's question.
I smiled. "It's just my secret, Dad."
Mom left with the cake. Dad and I talked more before Mom called us. "That's enough, boys!"
Dad is still laughing as we went to the closest table near the stage. Mom's on the stage, holding the mic. "Stay here, son," Dad said before he moved to Mom.
"We made a brief presentation for you, son. Hope you like it!" Dad said on the mic before he went on the backstage. It shocked me when a video of me when I'm still a baby played.
"That's the time I gave birth to you, Louiegie." I looked at Mom when she spoke. She smiled at me as they have played the next video.
"That's the video of you when you first learned how to sit properly. I was so worried back then. I kept on asking your dad, 'Why are you letting our babysit alone?' But he just kept on saying, 'Don't worry too much, Lianca'."
The video ended, and another video played.
"That's the time when we first went to the Manila Zoo. Every animal that you saw, you wanted to feed them, but I stopped you on the last one because it was a snake. I'm worried if you will get bitten. But you insisted, so I let you feed the snake. But when you saw the whole snake, you back off because you said that it was so big. Your dad was laughing while he's filming you." My friends and my classmates laughed.
The next video played.
"That's the time we went to London to celebrate your eight birthday. Your dad and I wanted to throw a party for you, but you said that you just wanted to celebrate your birthday by going to an ocean. When we arrived at the ocean, you left us because you said that you wanted to go around the ocean alone. You thought that you're just alone, but we followed you to know if you'll be safe and, of course, to film you."
Another video played.
"That's the video of your graduation when you're elementary. You kept on pouting because your dad can't attend. You hated him until the emcee called you and instead of me, your dad went on the stage with you. You just kept on looking at him, smiling."
They have played many videos of me before they ate. I went near the cater. "Happy birthday, Louiegie." I looked at Lauren when she greeted me. "Here's my gift." She handed three paper bags of I think are shoe brands.
"Thank you," I smiled at her. She also smiled at me before she left.
"Happy birthday, Kuya Louiegie!" Flinn shouted while she's walking towards me. "Your birthday gift!" She also handed me three paper bags of I think are clothes brands.
"Thank you," I smiled. She was about to go when I spoke again. "Where's Winter?"
She smirked. "Why are you looking for her, huh, Kuya?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to know where is she," I said, trying not to stutter.
"She's just somewhere. Don't worry, she will come to you later," she smirked again before she left.
I got my food before I went back to my table. We ate and after that, Mom spoke on the mic again. "To all of Louiegie's visitors, thank you for coming! We appreciate your presence here!" After that, some of my visitors left until my friends and classmates are the only ones left. "You can now have your after-party, but before that, I'll talk to Louiegie first," Mom said before she went near me. "Follow me, Louiegie."
I followed Mom, and we went near the gifts. "What is it, Mom?"
"Just wait here." She left after she said those words. I just shrugged my shoulders before I diverted my gaze to the gifts.
"I wonder what gift did she give me," I whispered to myself. I am about to touch one gift when someone spoke.
"Happy birthday, Louiegie." I looked at Winter. I saw a box in her hand. "This is my gift for you," she said before she handed me the box, which is I gladly accepted. "I gotta go. Again, happy birthday, Louiegie," she said before she left.
I looked at the box, and I placed it on one table. I opened it and saw the cake inside. I got the cake, and I saw that there is a dedication written on the cake. I read it.
