I fall into the back seat of a very fancy looking car, which I think belongs to Klaus. Damon wasn't super excited about my wanting to tag along with the Mikaelson brothers, but I assured him that right now it was a lot safer than me riding with him and Elena. For them. I shut the door and slide into the middle, peering over the back and into the trunk. Just a duffle-bag and some shoes, most likely an overnight pack. I lean over the side of the seat and open the bag half way, trifling for a certain glass object... and there it is. I pull out the object to reveal: A gorgeous bottle of Weller's Bourbon.
I close the bag and turn back around, tucking the bottle under my seat for the time being. Just I am settled, the front doors open and in the drivers side slides Klaus, and Elijah in the passenger's. They remain silent as they shut the doors and Klaus starts up the car, hastily pulling through the looped drive way. I lean forward, poking my head into the area of the front seat, and glance between the two. They keep their eyes forward and their faces hard. I reach my arm out to the stereo and press a random button, causing some obnoxiously loud early 2000s song to boom over the bass-bumped speakers. Klaus is quick to turn it off, smacking my hand away in the process like a nanny would with a disobedient child.
"Don't touch my car." He growls.
"Niklaus, is that really necessary?" Elijah chides.
"Is she really necessary?" Klaus murmurs defiantly. I roll my eyes.
"My lord Klaus, you don't have to be so bitter." I say, pulling out the bottle from under my seat and scooting over to the window on Elijahs side. I cross my legs across the back seat before twisting off the cap and taking a large swig straight from the bottle. Klaus glances back, his eyes widening as he sees what I'm drinking. He turns his fuming face back to the road.
"Is that my Bourbon?" He exclaims before throwing his arm over the back seat and fumbling around for the bottle whilst keeping his eyes trained on the road.
"I'll pay you back for it later," I respond, holding the bottle just out of his reach. I'm tempted to kick his arm away, but before I get the chance, Elijah sighs.
"Niklaus, please. Show a little maturity and leave the girl alone." I can see Klaus roll his eyes in the rear view mirror before he retracts his arm and places his hand back on the steering wheel. He glares at me in the glass and I can't help but chuckle. "And you, Miss. Brekker," Elijah leans to his left and peers at me from the front speak. "Might I suggest you not provoke him?" I roll my eyes as he turns back to face the road.
"My apologies." I drawl semi-sarcastically. I continue to look out the window taking sips from my drink here and there while going over today's events.
What was Lucien trying to tell me? And why was be being so... friendly? He didn't speak to me like you would to a temporary partner in crime, he spoke to me as if he knew me. He was considerate with Bonnie, letting me know he wouldn't hurt her. Then he even promised to keep me in the loop even though he knows fully well I haven't been doing the same. Something tells me that's sort of out of character for him.
And then there's the fact that I have no idea what Klaus wants with Bonnie. All I know is he needs her for some spell, but why her? From what I've heard, he has all the witches of the French Quarter to help if need be, so why Bonnie? And what does this have to do with her family's specialty? There's too much about all this that has still yet to be explained.
Here's what I know: Klaus needs Bonnie to fix a spell she was supposed to have already done. That same spell is what got her killed the first time around. Part of the reason the spell failed was because a certain ingredient was missing; a rock containing some mystical power source that is currently stashed away somewhere in the Salvatore residence, hopefully not in another soap dish. Klaus doesn't know why the spell failed, and I don't know what the spell is.
That should be my next goal, find out what the spell does and earn my way into Klaus' good graces by retrieving the lost rock. But first, I need to talk to Lucien. Find out what he knows. I'll have to figure out some sort of distraction, hopefully they don't kill him before I get the chance. As far as I know, they have no idea it's him who took Bonnie. But he's still a loose variable. I managed to bring him here because he wants something, yet I have no idea what that something is. How sloppy of me.
"Miss. Brekker, are you with us?" Elijahs voice interrupts. I shake my head a bit, returning from my little trance.
"Yes, sorry, what was that?"
"Niklaus tells me your full name is Castiel, I was curious as to what it means?"
"Oh, um..." I think back to what Nina told me about the Angel who delivered me. "I'm not entirely sure, I was named after someone." I take another sip of alcohol despite feeling the beginnings of a killer headache. "I think it means 'Shield of God' or something."
"I see. Well it's a very beautiful name, very unique." He compliments, earning a snort from Klaus.
"Not that unique, considering..." Klaus trails before Elijah sends him a firm look.
"Niklaus,"
"Sorry?" I speak up. Klaus just chuckles and shakes his head.
"Nothing you need to worry about, dearie." He replies knowingly. I continue to frown and turn my head back to face the window, watching the trees and fields pass when suddenly an old white house with damaged paint comes into view, placed at the end of a rather long dirt driveway. Even from here it's easy to see the place is practically falling apart, though it still holds a certain architectural charm to it. On one side, the house is surrounded by trees, and on the other by beautiful rolling hills of tall grass which sway in the strong winds.
"We've arrived," Elijah observes. "Miss. Brekker, I suggest you get yourself ready." Klaus simply laughs.
"He means stash the booze," he comments, warranting an agitated sigh from Elijah. I roll my eyes before throwing Klaus a sarcastic smile.
"I think I'll hold onto this, thank you." He smirks again me in the mirror, amused by my annoyance. I look back out the window as we turn into the long driveway, muttering to myself. "After all, we have no idea what we're walking into..."
