"Keith!" Lance yelled into his phone excitedly. "We're gonna go to the same school again! Oh, I'm so excited!"

Keith moves his phone further from his face and said, "Yeah, high school might be rough, but as long as you're there, everything will be ok."

"School starts in like five weeks, so what kinda fun do you want to have before then?" Lance asked.

There was a long pause on the line while they both thought of everything they had wanted to do that summer. Keith imagined his summer being filled with walks on the beaches and days on the pier. He wanted a peaceful kind of summer with his best friend to spend it with. Lance, on the other hand, wanted to go free-cage shark diving this summer. He also wanted to do cute things like get ice cream and play arcade games with Keith, of course.

"Well, there was something I've wanted to do for a long time now, but I don't know if you'll be up to it," Lance said almost tauntingly.

He knew there was only one way to get Keith to actually go with him, and he was right. Keith's interests were successfully piqued.

"Go on," Keith said, dragging on the 'on.'

"Um, I kinda want to go swimming with sharks. Like, we live right by the ocean- hardly fifteen minutes away- and we've never seen a shark. I was looking at these guys who"-

"Lance."

"Just hear me out! I was looking at these guys who can take us to a place just like thirty minutes from their dock."

"Laaaaaaance," Keith groaned.

"What? I think it sounds legit."

"You know I don't like the thought of giant fish with giant teeth," Keith said.

"I've always been fascinated with sharks though, and you said you wanted to do something memorable before our sophomore year at high school. This is perfect for us!"

"That's not really what I meant," Keith mumbled. "I want to be alive after I have a good memory, please."

"You will live! I'll be right there with you, and the sharks are nice. They're just sea doggies if you think about it."

Keith let out a loud groan.

"If you're too scared, I'll just invite Shiro instead," Lance said, knowing Keith would take the bait.

"I'll go!" Keith yelled. Lance snickered a little and Keith tried to defend himself by saying, "I've always wanted to do this anyway. Shiro hates the water. He says it makes his prosthetic rusty. I don't know why he chose metal in the first place, but"-

"I get it, Keith. You don't want me to go with Shiro instead of you."

Keith couldn't see Lance because they were only talking on the phone, but he just knew Lance was wearing that shiteating grin.

"True, but I also don't want to miss out on something that could only happen once, ya know?" Keith said honestly. "I also couldn't deal with myself if his Instagram had selfies of you on it."

When Lance laughed, Keith smiled, enjoying the sunny feeling it gave him.

"It would be unbearable to know you took pictures without me," Keith said dramatically, playing onto the scenario to hear that warm laugh again.

Lance didn't disappoint and laughed again, making Keith feel like he was on the beach already.

"Ok, we get to go swimming with sharks, but that's your one thing. I have five more things planned for us in exchange for this one. Mine can only happen if we live, so please don't let me die," Keith said, giggling a bit at the end.

"Deal," Lance agreed.

(Author's Note)
I'm so excited and motivated to write this! I have a lot of good things planned, so keep reading to figure it out! I changed the title from "sophomore summer" to "senior summer" because I wanted the stakes to be risen, so tell me if I accidentally typed sophomore instead of senior now or later on.
