Keith wanted to stay curled up and warm with Lance in the truck bed forever, but he knew they had things to do and it would get a little colder out there. Although, it never got freezing or anything his mom would even call chilly.
"Hey Keith," Lance said quietly.
"Yeah," Keith mumbled back.
"I think we do actually need to talk about it a little bit. Like I know it doesn't seem like anything would really change, but we should just let it all out and all."
The breeze make the leaves around them rattle.
"Ok," Keith said, sitting up. "We did already kinda say everything over the phone though, to be fair. But just so we're on the same page. I can't see myself with anyone other than you, no matter how hard I try. Like if I did, it wouldn't be the same. I mean, obviously."
"Same here. I get it. Like you're just right. Nobody fits like you do, you know?"
"Exactly! Ok, so now we're done talking about it?"
"No, that's not really how these kind of conversations end really. Now we decide like if we wanna date, I guess," Lance said, looking away.
"Well I vote yes, what do you say?"
"Well, I just don't know how my whole family would react and all."
"Lance," Keith laughed. "I've been at more family dinners at your house than I have at my own. Your family loves you and loves to support each other. I'm sure there's a handful of your relatives that are already dating like in a gay way? I don't know. But! They definitely would still love and support you!"
He was beaming at Lance, the warmth of it almost unbearable.
"You're right, yeah. You know what? I just... I love you, Keith."
He slightly grimaced, then held Keith's hands in his and leaned in quickly for a small kiss.
Keith laughed loudly. He hadn't even had any time to close his eyes and register Lance being so close.
"Are we really gonna sit out in the truck all night?" he asked Lance, shivering a little.
"Yes! It was on your list, so I don't know what you're talking about."
"Ok, ok, just shut up and give me a real kiss," Keith said pulling Lance in close by the front of his shirt.
They were both awkward with it and slow to actually be touching each other like that.
Keith gently slotted their lips together and watched Lance's eyes flutter closed. He smiled into the kiss, a good and real one. He could feel Lance smiling back. Trying not to ruin the mood with a fit of giggles, Lance pulled Keith on top of his lap and leaned back into the cushions.
They kinda fell over into the heap of blankets, and they must've both ditched the make out idea when they couldn't stop laughing. Lance pulled Keith into him and nuzzled up to his back.
Looking at the back of Keith's head, he placed gentle kisses on his neck, biting the soft skin there as Keith squirmed and mostly held in small noises of satisfaction.
"Lanceeee," he groaned, reaching back to hold Lance's chin in one hand.
Lance caught his finger in his mouth, holding it between his teeth playfully.
"Eep!" Keith yelped, although he didn't pull the finger away.
Lance let go, kissing the knuckle as Keith's hand hovered for a moment.
The side of Keith's neck looked irresistibly soft, and Lance's mouth was still searching for something to pay attention to. He couldn't help but bite it. Keith moaned loudly, then his body went tense and he was quiet.
"Oh!" Lance said, feeling a violent blush find its way to his face. "You... like that?"
"No!" Keith said, immediately defensive. "Well, I guess yeah. Your lips are just so soft. It surprised me. No biting rule for the rest of the night," he said.
"Ok, no biting," Lance said, tucking his cold fingers under Keith's soft shirt.
"Whoa!" Keith exclaimed. "That's freezing!" He squirmed and twirled around so he was now facing Lance and put his hands under Lance's shirt. "See how you like that," he replied when Lance yelped.
After a while of them resting but unable to fall asleep, Lance asked, "Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"No, why?"
"We could do like a two in one night, move this party to the beach and try to sleep there. The waves might help you fall asleep easier," Lance said softly.
"I think my racing nerves are keeping me awake," Keith said.
"Well, seems like there's nothing I can do about that one," Lance said, smiling.
He crawled out of the truck bed and slipped into the driver's side. I followed suit, tiredly crawling into the passenger's side.
It was a nice and cool night drive to the beach, and we quickly set up our makeshift bed by the water.
"Better?" Lance asked as we got settled again.
"Much," I said, scooting closer.
Before I knew it, I was waking up next to him with the sun glaring in my eyes.I would've stayed there for awhile, but I was honestly scared of getting sunburnt at this rate.
"Lanceeeee," I groaned, gently hitting his chest.
"Hm?" he answered softly.
"Wake up."
He opened his eyes and smiled at me.
FUCK.
"Ok, let's make a plan for today, shall we," I said, brushing his hair away from his face and setting up on my shoulders.
"Yeah, I guess we could do that," he said, rubbing the grogginess from his eyes. "Let's start with coffee, hm?"
"Ok, sounds good."
