Chapter 6: Happy Birthday (Part 3)

*Year 2268*

John's P.O.V

He, Butch, charged towards me and threw his first punch, aiming straight towards my face. I dodged it, moving to the left side as his fist hit the air where I was just standing only a second ago.

"Your going to be sorry, smart-mouth" he threatened as he continued his attack.

I brought my hands up in defense, ready to take the attack. I bended my body out, stood in a fighting stand and waited for him to make the first move.

"Patience is a virtue" I quickly thought to myself as he made his move.

He brought his fist into the air again and making the same mistake as before, aiming for my face. I raised my arms up in the air and blocked the attack, sliding his hand away and took a step back. We continued like this for another few seconds with me blocking his attacks as he threw them.

I didn't hit back because it wasn't worth getting into a serious fight with him and if I do fight back then I'm going to be in as much trouble as he will be in. But this tactic was already working as I could see Butch sweating his face off already, his attacks were starting to slow and if it wasn't for the adrenaline, giving him strength then this would have been over by now.

"Butch, leave him alone" yelled Amata, still holding onto my cap that I handed to her.

He ignored her, continuing his attack as I worked on my defense. All the kids were watching us as I held up my defense as Butch continued his ongoing attack. Amata tried begging to us to stop this but if I backed down now then I would get a...

"Hold still already so I can give you a knuckle sandwich!" yelled Butch.

Yeah....that.

Suddenly, my back hit something from my behind and when I looked over my shoulder I could see that I ended against the door that lead up to who knows where. I turned back to my front to see Butch, who had an evil smrik on his face.

But then....

I took a chance and left my battle stand, raising my hands up in surrender and hoped that I timed this right. Butch, who didn't take my surrender, brought his fist into the air for the final blow when a hand grabbed his arm and yanked him back.

"Butch, what do you think you're doing? Leave him alone!" ordered and demanded Officer Gomez.

Butch, who was still being held by Gomez, yanked his arm free from the firm grip before shooting me a glare and walked back to his gang. He huffed a breath as he walked off as I saw relief in my friends eyes, including Amata who had a small smile on her face.

I looked up to see Officer Gomez, Freddie's father, towering over me as he spoke "Are you all right, son?"

He bent down so our eyes were in level with each other as I nodded my head "Yes sir, I'm fine"

"I hope Butch didn't hurt you. Do you want to tell me what that was all about?" he asked in a sincere tone as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

I thought about it for a second because anything I could say right now can come back and bite me in the butt. If I told him what Butch tried to do then he could take care of it but the next day, Butch won't go easy on me, that's for sure.

Instead, I could tell him it's my fault since I am the one who insulted his mother but I was sick of his junk and it's my birthday, for goodness sake!

In the end, I came up with a response that everyone could be happy with "It was nothing. Just boys being boys" I said it in a casual tone, making it soundmake-believe.
