An AU where Jisoo is a village girl and Rosé is a daughter of an Earl

---

"The dreamed Christmas,

flakes shaken out of silences so far

and starry we can’t sleep for listening

for papery rustles out there in the night

and wake to find our ceiling glimmering,

the day a psaltery of light."

A woman in a winter coat said whilst flipping the page of her book. The girl put her hair at the back of her ear, reciting the next lines of the poem.

"So we’re out over the snow fields

before it’s all seen off with a salt-lick

of Atlantic air, then home at dusk, snow-blind

from following chains of fox and crow and hare,

to a fire, a roasting bird, a ringing phone,
and voices wondering where we are."

She said. She was sitting at their small backyard's swing she used to play with as a child. She read the next lines of her book out loud and only stopped when she heard her name being called.

"Jisoo?" Her mother called out. She saw her mother coming out from the back door.

"There you are. Me and your father need you to go to Mrs. Woona to sell her our vegetables." Her mother said. "Our crops have still been growing because of your green thumb." Her mother chuckled. Jisoo smiled at her mother.

Jisoo's mother stopped laughing and caressed her daughter's face. She sighed. "You grow up so fast darling. You'll be 18 next year! How fast time passes." She said. Jisoo laughed. She held her mother's hand and put it down.

"Yes, I know mother, but you have to remember I can't always be a child forever. I'm gonna grow up one day and explore the world." Jisoo stood up.

"Now, where are those vegetables? You know how Mrs. Woona acts when she doesn't get our vegetables in time." Jisoo started walking towards their house and her mother followed her.

Shortly after they got in, Jisoo took the basket of vegetables next to the sink. She dropped her book at her chair.

"Aren't you going to return that to the library?" His father asked. "Nope. I bought it a week ago from my savings. I still have a lot left so you don't need to worry." Jisoo said. Her parents smiled. Her mother kissed her in the forehead and walked her to the door.

"Now go safely, Kim. Without you, we'd be in debt!" His father said. "That's mean! It sounds like you're using me for your needs only." Jisoo joked. The three of them laughed.

"Well, as long as we live in peace, I'd do anything for it. Now, off I go." She said. She wore her cotton gloves and took the basket from her mother again. She went outside and walked towards Mrs. Woona's house.
