chapter 1

* Tarynn's POV *

"Watch your foot, Tarynn!"

"Ughh.."

I groaned in pain and forced my eyes open as an excrutiating pain shot through my throbbing ankle. This was my second fall, in a week. To top it off, I had just fell on my left ankle, again. I turned my head around and scrutinised the fresh wound. Blood profusely oozed out of the small wound near my feet, forming a small puddle of red on the rocky ground. I winced as Max dabbed an antiseptic swab on my wound.

It was almost ten o'clock at night and we were supposed to be on our way home after some very, extremely tiring fundraising. Somehow, I was convinced by this disgusting brother of mine that taking a walk under the moonlight was magical, and much more practical than taking a taxi. Well not when you're in heels.

"Don't you ever watch your step, Tarynn? What would you do without your charming, amazing and awesome brother by your side, huh?" said Max. He flipped his blonde hair with his hand and sighed exaggeratedly like the drama king he was.

Max Mathire is my nineteen year old brother. Ever since we were young children, Max had always been played the role of an older brother really well. He piggy-backed me whenever I fell, came to my rescue whenever I was bullied and hugged me whenever I cried. Besides his dramatic personality, Max had always been a great brother. Although, when it came to the maturity level, I was naturally the more sensible one out of the both of us.

Let's just say that Max tended to think of the worst of solutions.

I rolled my eyes and sighed exasperatedly. "Max, there is a clinic just two minutes away!"

"Nonsense!"

"Follow me then, dearest brother."

~~~
Exactly two minutes later, we were seated on some benches in a clinic, waiting for our turn. Max sulked as he glanced at me for a moment before whipping his big head in the other direction.
"Hmmp!"
I sighed, running a hand through my brown curls. Getting up on my feet, I wobbled slightly before limping towards the nearest vending machine.
He just needs some chocolate.
I placed my finger on the button before shoving some coins into the machine. Bending down on my knees in painful slowness, I reached out for the m&ms. Just as my hand came into contact with the yellow bag of goodies, a hard body was flung against my side.
I crashed onto the cold floor in immense force, immediately placing my hand against the side of my head to avoid any head injuries. The unknown attacker fell atop my side, effectively crushing my injured ankle. The inexplicable pain shot through me at once.
"Ahhhhhh!" I hollered at the top of my lungs.
~~~

My scream seemed to have awoken the stranger from his trance. Quickly, the man got up and stared intently at me.

My heart started palpitating wildly as I stared wide-eyed at the handsome green-eyed teenager in front of me.

Drake Lindan.

His face sent a bolt of electricity through my mind. Immediately, I started to recall the memories of us as children in the past. My eyes regained its shape as the corner of my mouth turned up slightly to form a smirk.

Then, I burst into tears.

"Ahhhhhhh!" I wailed loudly as the tears spilled out of my eyes incessantly.
