Danielle and Kathryn were with me, they had decided that today of all days they would follow me around, for what reason I had no clue.
We trained together, ran together and ate together. It was adorable how Kathryn made sure Danielle didn't mess herself when we had ice cream and would scold me when let some drip onto my shirt like a child.
Eventually I found myself in the office, Kathryn sat cross legged on the comfy sofa which I cringed recalling how Theo and Winston would do the nasty there once in a while. Danielle got herself comfy in one of the chairs across from me, eventually Trent walked in and sat beside Kathryn, he watched his game while the two girls did they homework, Travis found us eventually as I went through paper work and began knitting, something he claimed was for a school project and had Kathryn help him.
Xavier walked in, glaring and rolling his eyes and we all chuckled as he sat himself in the corner doing only he knew what.
I felt a soft bloom of a headache come on the longer I stared at words on paper but chose to push on while drinking plenty of water.
The Saturday was a beautiful one and for them to be in doors was just creepy on their part. I ignored them as I wrote up my reports and updated myself on news from the council.
Among the letters I opened one from the werewolf council then and sighed leaning back and rubbing my temple. It was a red envelope which I had been trying to avoid because of the colour alone.
Greetings Alpha Claude Phoebe.
It has been brought to our attention the lack of satisfaction by pack members in Greyhound Mountain territory.
While we are sure this series of complaints may be lead by a member with an emotional grudge, it cannot be ignored the possible danger Greyhound Mountain pack poses to wolves and humans alike because of such allegations.
With the sudden increase in caster activity in your area, the council has agreed to holding an investigation. Try not to be alarmed by any sudden visitations on our part. We merely hope to root out any underlining unfairness existing within the pack.
We hope this letter finds you well.
Sincerely
The Werewolf Council.
Great. Just, great.
I stood then feeling exhausted and quite literally pissed at the letter, I growled and found myself ripping it up. Of all the reasons to involve the werewolf council, of all the time.
My siblings looked over at me with frowns and I heaved a breathe pinching the bridge of my nose before I left them silently.
Making my way down stairs with the intention to shift and run to cool off I was met by Ace's wide eyes seeming to want to tell me something.
"Alpha Claude?" Looking up I was met with three very attractive well aged individuals. The one on the left had addressed me, a beautiful woman with dark eyes who smiled slightly causing her eyes to smile with her.
The man in the middle was large, taller than me and he had on flannel, his hairy chest was revealed beneath as so many buttons were unbuttoned. His bright green eyes studied me with such focus I felt my skin crawl and the last, farthest from me was looking around the land and pack house, tan hands in his pocket, his dark eyes found mine and he offered a salute, he had no hair.
I walked over looking down at my mates awkward smile. "Ah, yeah, hello, how can I help you?"
"They are with the council." My face dropped as it dawned on me. The letter had been around for a week.
"Oh, apologizes, I wasn't expecting you so soon. I only just got the letter I'm afraid."
"Our e-mail?" I shrugged and they laughed. "No problem, may we have a word then?"
Ace and I lead them upstairs to my office, my siblings all looked up at once, the sight for an outsider would catch them off guard and give pause but being so used to them like this I just walked in and offered the council members a seat.
My siblings all slowly stood, mostly leaving behind their things like a reminder that they would be back, I chuckled and asked them to get one of the pack members to bring refreshments.
"So, unfortunately, we are not part of the werewolf council as I'm sure you know, they are a busy bunch. We are their proxy." The woman explained.
"Everything that we're going to do though is under their guidance and we will report every detail back to them." They all nodded very seriously.
"Alpha Claude, I'd like for us to get this over with as quick as possible." I nodded in agreement, holding onto my mate who sat fixed on my lap.
"The procedure is really quite simple. We'll gather the individual's who sent through those countless complaints-"
"While one of us gets to meet the Caster's in question for the concerns of surrounding parties." I nodded along as they explained what would happen and the refreshments arrived. They didn't pause once.
"From our reports only one adult caster is with you."
"Ah, yes, my dad left a while ago."
"We are sorry for your loss. How do we get in touch with the remainder? Uh- Mill, Theodore Mill, I believe."
"I'll contact him shortly." They nodded then and gave me a list of names to bring to them. I set them up in the extra office next door which hadn't been used ever.
Ace was anxious the entire time and as he and I went down stairs to get everyone he let it be known.
"What is this about? Why are they here?"
"Someone's been sending complaints about my being Alpha. It seems I'm so unreasonable that they couldn't come to me first." I threw my hands up leaving the house with him hot on my heels. He grabbed my arm.
"That's not true."
"Yeah? Well, tell that to them." I held up the paper with about 25 names. When would this end?
Ace pursed his lips and sighed. He recognised that while he may have wanted to say things, he couldn't, not now.
We rounded up the members around us and called out the names. The ones here emerged and we directed them. The others weren't nearby however they had recieved the message and would be making their way over.
I linked Theodore who showed up with a strike of lightning and trees bellowing so strongly I was sure they would stay bent. He was not happy.
"How dare they!?"
"Please calm down, you won't help acting like this." Ace touched his arm and Theodore blew out air and closed his eyes.
"This is unacceptable. You're a good alpha, it hasn't even been two months yet!"
"Yeah, well, unhappy parties want me gone yesterday."
