"Wolves," he seethed out harshly, spitting at the ground as his eyes roamed over Ace and I before flickering behind me and sniffing heavily.

"Vampire."

His eyes focused behind me then and I moved to block his view and he raised a brow.

"I do hope she's alive."

"What do you think?" He stepped to the side, smirking, his arm stretched to the body as though inviting me to check, I made no move to approach, I heard the heart beat, it was slow, alive but barely.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh, you know, house hunting and all." His hand moved carelessly around the town. "One can only travel for so long, you see. Though, I didn't count on there being so many of-" he tilted his head in such a way that it tipped to the one side, his gaze fixed behind me. "You."

I heard soft gasps behind me and growled taking a step closer.

"Careful," I hissed at him.

"I believe it is you, Alpha who should be careful," he licked his lips, his eyes seemed to glow to life. "Such precious little things you have there."

"I'm warning you, if you wish to reside here peacefully, you better watch yourself."

He raises his arms then in mock surrender.

"I may have struck a nerve." He laughed, the sound was soft, unsettling at best and he turned. "Hopefully I listen," he turned his head to glance at us then and I growled instead.

"I don't like that."

"Me too." He moved slowly at first, deliberately wanting us to see him before he took a step and it was as though he never made it before he disappeared. It was the weirdest kind of vampire speed ever. I blinked rapidly wondering if everyone saw it the same way, my headache bloomed stronger and I winced.

I turned to my siblings, Danielle watched the place by the alley.

"She's dying." She murmured sadly and I turned to look.

"We should call for help." Ace was reaching for his phone when Xavier broke rank. The boy had on a blank stare as he approached the body.

"Xavier-" he didn't pause as he knelt before the body, tilting his head, he stuck his young fingers to her throat and pursed his lips. He blinked a bit before his eyes began to glow violet. "-Don't." Danielle had barely been loud enough as she said it.

We watched then as the body jerked before the woman it seemed gasped loudly, bolting up right even.

There was a sigh behind me as I watched Xavier watch this woman who coughed before she screamed, Xavier looked at me then, the glow dimming to his naturally violet eyes which he averted then and stood.

"No! No!" The woman screamed and then bundled herself in a corner shaking her head, holding onto her head. I had no words really.

"You shouldn't h-"

"I know," Xavier folded his arms over his chest having cut Travis off. "But I couldn't watch her go. Not like that." He looked away from them then as the woman sobbed and screamed.

Ace went over to her soothing and soft to assure her. "He's a monster. The devil!" She cried at him shaking his head. "Don't- don't let him take me." She gasped gripping her chest. I called for help then.

I couldn't get his look out of my head, his eyes so fixed on those who had been behind me at the time, the deliberated action of seeking them, of smelling them. I sat at the edge of my bed as I thought about it.
