>Ruel's Point of View<

I had an idea. I could message Mataya. I could see if it was her. If her phone dung when I sent it... that meant it had to be her. I had to try.

Ruel;
Hey, you at school?
(Sending...)

Sending, Sending, Sending. Why wouldn't it send? I checked my reception. Fuck, no signal. That can't be right. I restarted my phone. Hurry up. Okay I got it. Yes, three bars. I quickly typed the message in again.

Ruel;
Hey, you at school?
(Sent)

*Ding* It had to be Mataya's phone. I peered across her shoulder. She was opening messages. And there it was. "VINCENT" It was her! She didn't know it was me though. I couldn't tell her... not yet. There's no harm in waiting right?

Ruel;
Hey, you at school?

Mataya;
Nah, not yet. Hbu?

Ruel;
In the car now..

Maybe if I left her little hints. Maybe then she might be able to figure it's me.

Mataya;
Cool, what year level
are you in?

Ruel;
Year 11. Hbu?

C'mon Mataya I'm right here. You've know me our whole lives. If anyone could figure it out, it would be you.

Mataya;
Same :) VCE is annoying
hahaha. Do yk what you
wanna do after school?

Shit. Okay. She knows I've always wanted to Sing. We use to write songs together. Please, please Mataya.

Ruel;
*Typing*

But if she knows will she still talk to me? She seems like she's mad at me. Maybe I can figure out why first. Maybe I can get know her again. I can't mess this up. Maybe it's better if she didn't know yet.

Ruel;
Building :)

That should throw her off...

Ruel;
How about you?

Mataya;
I've always wanted to
be a fashion designer.

I couldn't help but smile. I remember when we were younger and she use to dress me up in all her clothes. She's still the same Mataya. "So how's school? Do you have any classes with Ruel?" My mum asked Mataya. I looked up to see her turn off her phone. Damn. "Uh, school's okay. I don't think I have any classes with Ruel tho." I couldn't help but stare at her when she said my name. It's like I was in grade 5 all over again. I think she could feel my stare. She shifted in her seat and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. I knew we had a class together. Did she never notice I was there? "We do actually, uh Chem with Mr Growder." I spoke softly, I didn't want to make her more uncomfortable than she was. It didn't work. She began to fiddle with her fingers. "Oh, sorry." She sounded so hesitant when she spoke to me. I hated it. I hated her being careful. I wish she would talk to me like she use to. "Did you know, me and your mum had year 11 Chem together. We even got kicked out of the class once." I could see Mataya's face lighten as my mum told her about high school stories. They kept talking about her mum the rest of the ride. Laughing every so often. I could tell Mataya was still comfortable with my mum like she use to be. Just not me. I had to find out why.
