Turk's POV
Turk woke up and stretched his arms. He looked around and remembered that he was in a tent outside of a Shadow outpost, and they would be attacking that place tonight. But they needed a plan. So Turk got up to see who else was awake.
Only Rippley was awake other than Turk. He was playing with a flower that he must have found on the floor around the camp. Turk sat down next to him. Surprisingly, he had found time to use the app which allowed him to speak Rippley's language. He could understand certain parts of what he was saying now.
"Blorg! (Hi!)" Rippley smiled, putting down his flower.
"Hey. Sleep well?" Turk sat down next to him.
"Blorg! Blorg? (Yup! And you?)"
"Not really. That's why I know what you're saying. I used the app Journey downloaded for me."
Journey opened the door to her tent, "So you did?"
"Uuuh... yes."
"Blorg! (Journey!)" Rippley blorged.
"Heeeeeey!" Journey greeted him.
"When's 8-Ball gonna get up? We need to make a plan for tonight." Turk asked.
"I'm sure he'll get up soon."
"He needs to. Or I'm going to wake him up myself."
8-Ball showed up a couple of minutes later. Turk was slightly disappointed that he didn't have a reason to beat 8-Ball up anymore. Turk suddenly found that he wished he had a warm shower because he, 8-Ball and Journey all stank. Rippley was also quite sweaty, but he smelled of fresh Slurp Juice.
Turk shrugged it off and looked around the group. Judging by 8-Ball's look, he had already guessed what Turk was going to say.
"We need to make a plan for tonight." Turk told them.
"Can't this wait?!" 8-Ball sighed.
"Not really if we don't want to die. Any ideas?"
"No. Unless you count attacking from the right, that is. There's a watchtower on that side, and they won't be able to see us if we go beneath." Journey told them.
"Uuuh... yeah, that works. Anyone else?"
"Blorg blorg blorg. (We need to take out the henchmen first." Rippley advised.
"Sure, why not. 8-Ball?"
8-Ball said nothing. Turk sighed and turned his head back to look at Journey and Rippley. Journey looked upset about 8-Ball's reaction too.
"Well, I think we just need to scout the area once all of the henchmen are out. We'll worry about Riptide and the others if they come." Turk told the others his idea.
"Then it's settled. I'm going to go to bed early. You guys can stay up if you want to." Journey nodded.
"I'm going to bed too."
It seemed Rippley and 8-Ball felt like they could stay up without a lot of sleep. Turk sat down in his tent wondering how he was going to fight his uncle. But then a different idea came to mind. He could persuade Riptide to join them, if he was still the same as he was back then. Not evil enough to betray him and Remedy.
He'd have to look shocked, of course, as if he hadn't seen Riptide and his gang. Innocent, too. After all, he didn't want to make Riptide feel like he wanted to kill him, and he didn't. These things all should be quite simple, the real challenge was getting 8-Ball to be on his side. He can act as if this was a last minute change, and Journey and Rippley would probably be on board. But to 8-Ball, his brother Scratch was a traitor. He wouldn't be holding back.
Eventually, he stopped thinking about Riptide and fell asleep. He needed to rest for the mission ahead of him and the rest of Strike Team E.G.O.
His alarm clock awoke him at 11pm. Journey and Rippley, annoyed at the alarm going off, groaned. Rippley must have decided to sleep at some point. Turk left the tent and Journey and Rippley left theirs. 8-Ball was sat there by the light of his phone torch, sharpening the blades of his knives. Turk gulped. He turned to Rippley and Journey.
"Guys, this is important. Is it OK if we make a last minute plan change?" Turk told them.
"Depends. What are you hoping we should do?" 8-Ball spoke for the first time in a while.
"Well, I want to ask them to join us. The group of four, I mean."
"Are you insane?!"
"I... I don't know."
"I think that's a great idea." Journey smiled.
When Rippley nodded too, Turk felt good that he had some people on his side. But he needed 8-Ball. He then had an idea, but he didn't like it.
"You have my permission to engage if the getting-along thing doesn't work out, 8-Ball." Turk gulped.
"Hmm? Really?" 8-Ball replied, "Just saying I am only doing this for our safety."
"Yes."
"OK then. Let's get moving."
Everyone hauled their bags onto their backs and also packed up their camp, as they probably wouldn't be going back here. They crouched down on top of a hill and viewed their surroundings. Like Journey had said, the watchtower was on the right side of the base.
They began to sneak through the darkness and hid behind a gap in the fence next to the watchtower. They slipped through it and climbed the watchtower, knowing that taking out the watchtower henchmen would be their first step to safety.
Journey harpooned one henchman off the side of the tower and Rippley put the other one into a headlock and knocked him out. 8-Ball then pulled out a sniper and shot all of the henchmen one by one.
So far, so good. No Shadow members seemed to be here other than the henchmen. And now they were all gone, E.G.O could scout the area. Turk was happy that they didn't have to confront Riptide.
Turk could now see the base up close. There was a huge bunker built into the side of the mountain, which he knew already, but now he could truly see how huge it was. The door also seemed to be unable to be unlocked. There didn't seem to be anything else notable there than a large stack of crates, which probably only contained guns and bullets. Possibly medkits too. Turk turned to leave and that was when he saw them.
"Hello." Riptide smirked.
"Thought you could get away that easily?" Chic sneered, pulling out a knife.
"Blorg. (Yes, actually.)" Rippley replied.
"Shut it."
Chic launched her knife into Rippley. Journey screamed. But Rippley only grimaced, and the knife was pushed out of his body like he refused to die. Turk let out a sigh of relief and E.G.O took out their weapons.
"Ugh! Unfair!" Chic scoffed.
"You just tried to kill him without warning! You can't say anything!" Journey snarled.
"Meh."
"I wasn't expecting to see you here, Turk, but when Chaos Agent told me about you, I couldn't say no!" Riptide smirked.
"I don't want to hurt you!" Turk shouted.
"Neither do I. Turk, join us!"
"What?!"
"It's in your blood. Like it's in mine..."
"No! You must be joking!"
"I'm not. I'm seeing by the look in your eye that you want us to join you. Pathetic."
"You've changed."
"But not enough that I would hurt my nephew and his friends."
"You're not saying we're going to spare them?!" Hazard snarled.
"Let them figure out that Shadow is the team that they should be joining, and if it doesn't get through their incredibly thick skulls then we can stick a bullet in them."
Riptide, Scratch, Hazard and Chic left. Turk and his team were left there all by themselves. He didn't know how to feel, but he did know one thing; Riptide wasn't joining him. Which meant that he might have to kill him.To be continued...
