Mortis

                It’s been 3 days since I left Dynami 2 with a heavy feeling. I don’t really get myself. I hated Grand for being an ass then I was thankful when he saved me in Timberland although I never asserted my gratitude. And now, I’m stuck dealing with these tangled emotions I have. Humans are really hard to predict. It’s also been since that I have in this habit of avoiding him. Well, not really avoiding him but more of like not wanting to his see jerk face.

“Come on Zeffira, just this once. It’s a do or die match!” Taizon hysterically begged.

Kahapon lang din nagpakita sa akin si Taizon after I left him at the firing center. When I asked him where he had been, sinabi lang niya na naging busy siya. I never bothered to interrogate more. Besides, kung ano man ang pinagkakaabalahan niya ay hindi ako interesado.

“I told you, no.”

“Can’t you do it for me, your friend?”

Sumandal siya sa tabi ng locker ko at nag-twinkle eyes pa. Inilagay ko sa loob ang P.E. uniform ko na pang archery bago siya hinarap nang nakakunot ang noo. “Who told you you’re my friend? I have no friends Taizon.”

Napatayo siya ng tuwid sa tinuran ko. “Oh. I..ah..I thought we’ve been friends since you know… I toured you around the campus.” Nakayukong sabi niya.

The thing is, I am not really good at trusting anybody. I thrived with everyone liking me. Notwithstanding my rough attitude, they were all ready to gamble in being my friends.  At first, I liked the attention for I was a famous kid at school. But then when I grew up, I realized that everyone liked me because I was an Augustus, an heir to an empire, and a rising empress. They were never my friends, they were never true, and that was the first time I hated our name.

Napabuntong-hininga ako. “You’re my companion.”

That was the word I used to refer my acquaintances. And that’s the best noun I could think of.

He raised his gaze at me. “Well, ahm… that’s…that’s good to know.” He smiled slightly at me, “So, can you join our finals? Come on Zeffira, I heard you hit Silvia hard in the face. We need that kind of strength in our team” He flashed me a cheeky smile.

Inirapan ko siya at isinara ang pinto ng locker ko pagkakuha ng casual clothes ko. I’m done for today. Archery was my last subject. Every semester ay 3 physical educations ang required na kuhanin ng mga estudyante. Mine is Firing which will be every Friday - tomorrow, Archery which I just finished, and Karate on Tuesdays.

“Still no, Taizon. But I’ll be watching to see you get hit by a flying ball. That’ll be fun.” I smirked

“Not funny. Alright. I’ll see you later then. 6pm.” He shouted as I walked away.

I just continued walking outside Dynami 2. Taizon was trying to recruit me to join his volleyball team. Masyado raw kasing malakas ang kalaban nila. When he heard I was a varsity player in my previous school, and also not to mention the stunt I did last Monday, he immediately pestered me to join his team.

I rejected his offer countless times. I am really not interested to play. Honestly, I don’t know what I want as of the moment. Ever since I entered Imperium, I lost my interest to so many things. Pati classical music ay hindi ko na rin napapakinggan. Ang cellphone ko naman, iniiwanan ko nalang sa HOA o minsan naman ay sa BMW ni kuya.

Bumalik ako sa HOA para magpahinga sandali dahil may 2 oras pa naman bago mag-alas sais. I took a nap and a bath then when it reached exactly 6:30 o’clock, I stormed out of HOA to grab something to eat. I don’t intend to watch the game from the beginning. I’ve decided to go there when it’s about to finish. Total wala naman talaga akong balak manood kung hindi lamang dahil kay Taizon. He’s been my companion, but like I’ve said, I don’t really refer to anyone as my friend. So as a consolation, I told him I’d watch.
