Taylor, 12 years old, sat in her room, just laying in her bed at night. Usually She liked to think a lot at night, while trying to sleep. All wrapped up and eyes just dazed at the ceiling. Some of the thoughts at night were magical, Warm and happy. She liked to look at how her day went. Smile or maybe laugh.

But this night was different.

Her head was no longer filled with childish smiles, cuddling memories or anything with blazing sunshine and rainbows . Instead, she drowned in her own tears. Her head became what was darker than night. Thoughts turned into nightmares and memories flipped into trauma.

That smile no longer made her happy. Those eyes no longer made her feel welcome.

But now alone...

Her mother. She missed her dearly. Her death was not predicted, but not saved. That night, Taylor held her. Her heart was something beyond a beating drum as she watched the blood drool out of her like a waterfall. It was something she couldn't forget.

So much happened that very moment.

The robber got away.

Jason cried in his bedroom.

And her mother took her last breath.

"Mom!" She cried out in tears, touching her face "Mom! Stay with me o-okay!? Stay WITH ME!" she screamed, as she watched her slowly take her last breaths.

But she remembers, right before she left her. Her blue eyes looked right into Taylors. She froze as tears slid down her cheek, just looking at her Mom go pale. Rachel lifted her hand and tucked her daughters hair behind her ear and softened her eyes. Whispering her last words.

"You'll make me so proud, Tay. I just know it"

Although they didn't slide out so easily. You can hear the hurt in her voice and the pain. But she left smiling.

Those thoughts at night made Taylor choke in her own sadness. She cried herself to sleep silently. The pain still stung ever so hard, even though  4 months has passed. It still hurt. Her favourite thing to cuddle at night was her teddy, snuffles. That stuffed animal meant more to her than her father. It was her only friend at the point.

Suddenly Taylors door opened. Her heart skipped a beat as she threw her body to the other side of her bed and began to sleep. Fearful that it might have been her dad.

"Taylor..?" A young voice called out to her.

She slowly moved her head to look behind her.

It was jason. Dressed in all blue pajamas and holding a blanket. He was rubbing his eye, looking at his only older sister.

"Why aren't you in bed?" Taylor hissed as she then sat up on her bed.

"I can't sleep..." He replied, with a childish pouted lip. "Mr Night light broke again"

Taylor rolled her eyes and slammed her body back down onto her bed.

"Well" She huffed "That's not my problem. Go get dad or something."

Jason then shuffled his feet closer to her bed and innocently replied.
