A new begining.

Autumn time had come, and the leaves were flying off trees. The Blackmore boarding house was bustling with noise as the Avonlea girls were planning on going out for lunch. School wouldn't be starting till tomorrow, and they had all their supplies  so they set out. The air was chilly so the girls huddled together for warmth. It had only been a week at the boarding house! It was as if summer left as fast as it came! The girls finally found a nice place to have lunch, none of them had been their before so they didn't have many expectations. They found a table and sat down.
"I didn't expect it to be this cold out!" Diana shivers.
"It was never this cold, this early back in Avonlea!" Josie frowned.
Then a waiter walked up to their table. "Hello ladies, would you like anything to drink or eat?" He asked.
The girls ordered and the waiter walked off, winking at the girls.

"He was dreamy!" Ruby giggled.
"Ruby! Aren't you courting with Moody?" Jane asked scandalized.
"Yes." Ruby blushed a bright red. "And I never said I wanted to court the waiter!"
"Speaking of courting..." Josie asked "Tillie, have you decided which Paul to court?"
"No..." Tillie tried to hide the smile on her face but she couldn't help it and bursted our laughing.
"Anne's courting someone" Diana blurted out. Anne glared at Diana but couldn't hide the blush.
"WHO!" Ruby screamed, a smile playing on her face.
"So your not courting adventure I see?" Josie giggled "well who is it?"
"Erm.." Anne didn't know what to say, she loved Gilbert but what if Ruby was mad that she liked him? No Ruby is courting Moody! Anne thought in her head.
"It's Gilbert!" Diana said.
"Diana!" Anne playfully smacked her bosom friend.
"I knew it!" Ruby giggled. "I told you Jane!"
"I-" Anne didn't know what to say so she just started laughing along with Ruby and the other girls.

After Diana had explained what happened between Gilbert and Anne, the other girls were shocked. Then they ate their lunch, payed, and left.

When Anne arrived back at the boarding house with the rest of the girls Mrs. Blackmore handed out letters. She had a letter from Green Gables, and one from Toronto. She opened the doors one from Marilla and Matthew first, saving the one from Gilbert for last.

The first letter was basically Marilla telling Anne how they missed her dearly, and the house seems so quiet without her; and how Jerry will be sending Anne a letter later in the week.

Now it was time for her to open the letter from her beau, if that's what he was to her. Anne didn't necessarily know what her relationship with Gilbert Blythe was, she would have to ask him.

As she examined the letter she could tell Gilbert had written it, she quickly opened it and began reading the words of love, Anne had decided that had a tragical ring to it.

     My dear Anne,
Life in Toronto seems so lonely without you by my side. I received your letter, and I'm elated to hear that you look like your mother, I wish we had connected earlier so I could have been their with you. But alas, I was not.

We started school already, much earlier than you I presume. Toronto is so different from Avonlea, it's big, and bold, you would like it here, Anne-girl.

I have to finish up this letter as my roommate, Fred, can't sleep with the light on! What a baby!

Well I shall see you soon.

Sending love, Gilbert.

See you soon? Anne thought to herself, what did he mean? She brushed it off for now and pulled out a box from under her bed. She had kept all her letters and most special items in this box.

So she put both her new letter in the box, she would probably re visit the one from Gilbert later.

Just as she slid the box back under her bed Diana came skipping in with a sly smile on her face.
"Hi, Anne!" She said all cheery.
"Diana, are you ok?" Anne let out a short laugh at her friends strange demeanor.
"Oh! Well, you and I have just been invited to aunt Jo's for dinner tomorrow night!" Diana said much calmer now.
"Really! Oh dearest Diana, this will our first Charlotte town dinner as college students!" Anne squealed like a little girl.
"I know! I'll have to ask Mrs. Blackwood if we can go but I'm sure she'll say yes." Diana realized "I'll go ask her now!"

Anne watched her raven haired friend walk out of the room before walking over to her desk to write a letter to Gilbert.

Gilbert,
I miss you so. It's been less than a week since we uncovered our feelings for each other, and a part of me wishes we had discovered those feelings a lot sooner, but overall our challenges in the past has only made our love stronger.

Today the other girls found out about us courting, or whatever is going on between us. We were all just eating lunch and Diana just blurted it out! She then went on to tell them about how it happened, you should have seen their faces!

Whilst I was reading you letter, I noticed how at the end of your letter you wrote 'see you soon' now, Gil, we won't be seeing each other for another couple of months sadly.

Anyways I'll write another letter tomorrow about my first day.

Yours truly, Anne.

Knock knock Anne walked over to the door to see Ruby standing there.
"It's time for dinner!" Ruby informed her.
"Ok, I'll be right down!" Anne turned back to her desk and placed Gilbert's letter in the envelope, that already had his address and a stamp.

She then went to dinner.

Thank you for reading the first part to my story!! The next part will be out between Tuesday and Wednesday!
