The Library

Katie was removed to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries the following day. By that time the news that she had been cursed had spread all over the school, though the details were confused and nobody other than Harry, Ron, Alula, Hermione, and Leanne seemed to know that Katie herself had not been the intended target.

"Oh, and Malfoy knows, of course," said Harry to Ron and Hermione, who continued their new policy of feigning deafness whenever Harry mentioned his Malfoy-Is-a-Death-Eater theory. Alula, too, stayed quiet, believing Harry behind the scenes.

"I shouldn't have left," Daphne said as she sat with Alula in the library.

The two girls were working on their Astronomy- defining the meaning and origins of the names of the planets.

"I was weird. One moment she was walking and talking and then she was levitating in the sky." Alula said.

"And Harry thinks that Draco is behind it?" Daphne asked.

"Yeah," Alula nodded.

"You should talk to him."

"Does he even want to talk to me?"

"You're family-"

"His mother betrayed my father and our aunt killed him," Alula said bluntly.

"Well, if you're looking for a moment when he's alone," Daphne mumbled. "Your eight o'clock by the magical modes of transport books."

Alula sighed, "Fine."

The library was pretty empty, a few students were nestled here and there revising or doing homework. It was strange to see Draco without Pansy or his gang of Slytherin pig-heads. He was looking at the spines and pulling out books as if he was looking for a certain page or piece of information. Alula was only steps away from him and yet still had no idea what to say.

"Alula."

"Draco."

"Did you need one of these books?" He asked, moving out of the way of the bookshelf.

"No, I... umm... I wanted to talk to you."

"Now's not a good time-"

"Draco," Alula said standing closer. "We said that we would let nothing get between us. Not our houses or our friends-"

"This is different!"

Alula took a step back with a look of concern written across her face.

"La, I'm sorry, but I have... I have to do this." Draco said quietly. He looked tired- small blue bags hung below his eyes, standing out against his pale face.
