Chapter 8: Kanae and Sanemi

The next day Kanae tells Sanemi the full story privately, "So that's why I was gone for nearly eighteen years."

Sanemi just looks at Kanae and reflects on what he was told silently.

"Sanemi I'm really happy to see you again!" Kanae hugged him with a smile and Sanemi just hugged back unsure of what to say. "Sanemi please say something! I know there's something you want to say."

Sanemi just sighs and looks at her, still not saying anything.

"Sanemi? Please I'm worried about you." Kanae says.

"It's just... I still love you." Sanemi finally says, "I mean in love..."

Kanae nods her head, "Go on."

"Well It's just I also had a feeling you were still alive whether or not I was just being delusional I still don't know. I loved you so much and I believed so hard you were still alive that I never bothered to find a wife. I was convinced that when I found you that you'd be mine. I just never really thought about it logicly. It's just I always pictured finding you as the same seventeen year old girl I lost but when you're found now you're a grown ass woman with a grown up child not to mention you just lost your husband. Once I realized that was your child I felt guilty for loving the way I still do like... I can't just tell a woman I haven't seen in nearly eighteen years I love her especially since she just lost the man she loved and even if you did accept my love immediately what would your kid think? That once his father died suddenly his mom is just in love with another man! That sounds like a way to make him hate both of us. I just..." Sanemi is cut off by Kanae.

"Sanemi I still love you but I don't think I can love you like that. At least not anytime soon." Kanae stands up and looks out the window, sees her son training with Kanao, and smiles, "I loved my husband a lot... I know it sounds weird considering he was a demon but he cared for me and our son a lot. That demon was sweeter than most men." Kanae sits next to Sanemi and hugs him, "I will always love you and maybe one day we can be romantic again but that won't be anytime soon."

Sanemi hugs back and kisses Kanae's cheek, "I understand."

Kanae kisses his cheek back, "Any other questions or thing you want to say?"

"No... I'm happy to have you back!" Sanemi says.

"I'm happy to be back! I missed everyone." Kanae smiles and after a minute she pulls out of the hug, "Alright I have to go talk to Kanao now. I promise I'll come back later."

"Ok." Sanemi replies as Kanae leaves. Sanemi lays back on his and looks out the window to see Kanae going to Kanao and Giyuu where they all begin to chat, "I'm just happy to have you back Kanae." Sanemi Smiles before closing his blinds and he goes to sleep.

Around the same time at the Infinity Fortress Hantengu creeps up on Muzan, "EEEEEEP, My lord! I need to talk to you about Douma's death!"

Muzan turns around pissed off, "What is there to talk about! That bastard went behind my back and raised an enemy. That child of his is no ordinary kid! Being part demon he's much stronger then a normal Hashira, faster regeneration, more stamina, and god knows what else! Now combine all that with their breathing techniques all his base strengths just got boosted even further! Douma essentially just created who could possibly be one of the strongest Demon Slayers to ever exist!"

"EEEEEEP, My lord this isn't about the child it's about Douma! He died 127 years after the previous Upper Moon Died! 127 is a prime number! Things don't look good LORD!" Hantengu rants.

Muzan grabs Hantengu, "Your superstition means NOTHING! We will live on and find the Blue Spider Lily! Understood?" Hantengu nods his head in fear, "GOOD!" Muzan throws Hantengu to the ground, "Nakime! send him away!" Hantengu is teleported away and Muzan sits down, "I hope his superstition means nothing..."
