If you Spare my Sister? (Douma X Kanae)

Chapter 6: Another Morning

Much later that night near the crack of dawn Douma stumbles into the living room in his mansion covering his eye and blood comes from under his hand, "Wife! I'm home!"

Kanae walks in and gasps when she sees him, "What happened?"

Douma sits down on the couch and explains, "My Lord found out that our son is now a Demon Slayer and took my position in Upper Moons away along with most of my power." Douma stops covering his eye and looks at his blood covered hands, "I'm lucky to be alive though." Douma lays down, "I'm so tired..." Douma turns to Kanae, "You're all I have left."

Kanae hugs Douma, "I won't leave you! Not yet."

Douma hugs back, "Wife Your friends will be here soon to get you but I do have one request for you!"

"Anything for you!" Continues hugging him.

Douma sighs, "Can you kill me? I can't beat them in this state or even run for that matter." Douma holds one of her hands, "I'd be much happier dying by the hands of my lover then some random Demon Slayers."

Kanae nods her head, "I understand," She tears up, "let me go get my katana."

"Once you have it meet me in the garden." Douma says.

Kanae stands up and walks to their room and picks up her katana mounted on the wall, "It's been too long since I held it like this." She walks down stairs, then out to the garden, and Douma is kneeling on the ground with a small pot with a flowered design on it in front of him, "Ready?" Kanae askes.

Douma looks up with his bleeding eye and smiles, "Yes Wife! I've lived for hundreds of years but these last years with you and Giyuu have been the greatest of my life! I'm sorry for what I did to you and your sister along with all your friends." He cries smiling while his blood and tears mix on the floor, "Do you actually love me?"

Kanae kneels down and kisses him, "Of Course I love you!"

Douma kisses back and Smiles, "I love you too! If you kill me I'll die happily forever!" Douma lowers his head and waits for her to strike as his blood and tears now fall into the pot. "You're the only thing I'll ever truly have in my life. I don't have parents who love me, my title was taken from me, and one day our son will marry. Tell Son I love him with all my heart and I'll always guide him in battle! I love you more than anything wife!"

"I love you too! More than anything." Kanae unsheathes her light pink Katana and raises it over her head, "Breath of the Flower! Goodbye Husband!" She brings the Katana down, chopping Douma's head off.

Douma's head falls onto the pot's opening and turns to ash falling into the pot and his body disintegrates.

Kanae falls to her knees, "I'm free... but I lost my love." She smiles and cries in a mix of happiness and sadness.

Later at the dawn the pillars come to the mansion and sneak in and begin their search for Kanae and Douma, Giyuu slowly makes his way to the living room where he sees Kanae sleeping on the couch with a flowered pot. Giyuu then quickly checks around and walks up Kanae, "Kanae? Wake up!"

Kanae open's her eyes, "Giyuu?"

"Where's the demon!?" Giyuu asked.

Kanae sits up and holds out the pot, "He's been dealt with."

Giyuu looks at her confused, "What? how?"

"The Demon King took almost all his power after Douma allowed our son to become a demon slayer, he was too weak to run or fight, he didn't want to be killed by random Demon Slayers so he had me kill him instead." Kanae explained.

Giyuu looks at the pot, "Then what's in the pot?"

"Upper Moon 2's ashes my husband's ashes." Kanae respondes.

"You loved a demon?" Giyuu asked, confused?

Kanae nods her head, "I know it sounds weird but Yes! More than anything."

Giyuu tears up, "Now's not the time for questioning!" Giyuu hugs Kanae, "I missed you so much!"

Kanae puts down the pot and hugs back, "I missed you too." Kanae tears up too, "How's Shinobu?"

"Shinobu is fine albeit not great! She just got a lot more frail after being a Demon Slayer so long..." Giyuu gets cut off by Kanae.

"WHAT? I told her to leave the corp and start a family!" Kanae says annoyed.

Giyuu sighs and continues, "AND her having a child didn't help her body either."

Kanae looks at him, "OH!" she Smiles, "Who's the father?"

"Me..." Giyuu responds.

"AW!" Kanae smiles, "I'm not surprised! She always had a soft spot for you! You said her condition wasn't great?" 

"She's fine but she can't be super active so she mostly does the Butterfly Estate's paperwork and treats minor injuries nowadays. It's sad because she's thirty two and already can't wield a sword effectively. " answers Giyuu.

"I understand... Let's go! I need to see her. I miss her so much." Kanae says.

Giyuu nods, "grab a few keepsakes, we'll hire a carriage to get us close to the Estate. We can help you move everything out later."

"Thanks Giyuu!" Kanae hugs Giyuu then packs up her keepsakes.

While she collects her stuff Giyuu looks at the pot of ashes, "She loved a demon?"
