we put on the stinky bowling shoes and got to our aisle, setting up the game screen. you have toput a three letter abbreviation of your name. maihua put "gay" and i just put "pot", we begun the game, maihua was pretty bad. rolling the ball down the sides, i sip my slushie.

"you do know the aim of the game is to actually hit the pins right?" i call out to her with a smile. maihua hits me with a 'say that again, i dare you' look. i raise my hands in defence as she rolls the ball, hitting 3 pins and then hitting 1 one her next one. she groans and walks over. i stand up and put down my slush.

i pick up a ball off the rack and roll it, it skims the edge of the pins and knocks over one.

"you do know the aim of the game is to actuall hit the pins right?" maihua repeats my words in a mocking tone, i pick up my next ball and stick out my tongue. i roll the ball, it hit 6 pins, they all topple over. putting me in the lead.

after a few rounds, the game came to a close, i won, maihua didnt. i was going to make sure i spent every moment of the pride i had and rub it in her face.

after a week, my moms death became little in my mind, and i thought best to not think about it. mom would want me out there and not hunching over and weeping about it. 

it was now mid-february, winter was literally still here. i shuffle in bed, my eyes still closed. maihua behind me. we had spent like 6 months together now. time had gone so quick with her around. she's helped me through every step of the way.

i couldnt believe we started dated back at late october time. i feel maihuas hands play with my hair as i fake sleep, plaitting it. although, those 6 months had been amazing. i passed mid-terms, we made memories at the beach resort, we spent christmas together like an old couple. like we made cookies, we decorated her apartment, we went iceskating. new years was better, we went to a party and she kissed me at 12am on the dot, it was magical.

i keep my eyes closed, pretending to be asleep for fun. i only hear the patter of rain on the windows until i hear a phone buzzing. maihua shuffles from her side of the bed, pulling up her phone. she swipes onto the call, speaking quietly.

"hey, y/n asleep?" i hear a voice ask. i feel maihua's gaze on me for a second.

"yeah, why?" maihua replies softly, i keep my eyes closed, no backing out of my sleeping trick now.

"can you come over... i really need some help~" the voice coos, i inaudibly gag. what. the. fuck. cmon maihua say no, that's flirting obviously. i smile to myself, loving the fact i am about to hear maihua go off at this anonymous girl i didnt know flirting with her.
