(Y/N) was at a loss for what to do as the strange man before her continued to hold onto her elder sister. She probably should intercede, but she stood there motionless in awe as he continued to grab at Medusa.
Luckily, someone else came to the rescue.

"Spirit" a voice came from the doorway. At the sound of the voice the red haired man froze.

(Y/N) looked to the door, there stood another man. He looked to be in his early 30s however his hair was already grey. The most striking part of his apperance was the large screw through his head. It fit the patchwork motif adorning his sweater and labcoat.

"Oh Stein, what brings you here" Spirit choked out letting go of Medusa and standing up. He turned to face Stein, with a look of dread betraying any bravado he tried to manifest.

Stein looked amused from where he stood watching the pelicular scene he had entered dissolve. (Y/N) recognized Stein from the personal information given to her before her arrival. Although he looked strange in person he was a 3 star meister, therefore it was necessary that (Y/N) remain on guard around him at all times.

"Lord Death wanted to speak to you," Stein stated bluntly.

Spirit laughed nervously, "Well I'll see to that immediately" he stuttered before bolting from the nurse's office. Medusa appeared unchanged by the interaction, although (Y/N) assumed she wasn't displeased by Spirit's departure.

Stein stood unmoved in the doorway. He light a cigarette as he spoke, "I hope he wasn't too much trouble for you Dr. Medusa"

"Of course not," She chuckled

As Spirit sulked out of the room, Stein approached (Y/N).
"and you must be Miss (L/N)? I heard you would be joining us" Stein held out his hand for a shake while taking a puff from his cigarette with the other.

"Yes, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance sir" (Y/N) sputtered out just failing to make eye contact as she did. She was certain Stein noticed her failure to appear assertive luckily Medusa cut in.

"I'm sure having (Y/N) around will be a great help, you wouldn't believe the amount of injuries the students here seem to accrue" the older woman said feigning a laugh.

"I'm not surprised," Stein chuckled, "I got into plenty of trouble of my own in my student days. Now if you'll excuse me ladies I'll have to take my leave" He spoke as he turned and left through the still open door.

(Y/N) let out a sigh of relief as Stein's figure faded from view. Her hands felt cold and clamy as she unfurled them. She looked to her elder sister who had not missed a beat. Medusa was already going through some files she had left strown about the desk, paying no attention to (Y/N). Taking the hint (Y/N) left the office rolling behind her the heavy suitcase that had been plaguing her all day.

Utilizing a list of instructions Medusa had explained to her prior, (Y/N) was somehow able to find her way to the apartment she was to live at during the operation. The apartment was rather small and dark. It has a small kitchen, bathroom, living room, and a single bedroom all furnished sparsely. However (Y/N) didn't mind, truth be told she wasn't one for much grandeur. The dingy cramped apartment reminded her of her own home. It was a cozy little abode nestled within the mountains of South Siberia. What (Y/N) missed most of all was the solitude her home offered her. It was far from most civilization making sure that few were able to interfere in (Y/N)'s projects.

Dragging her luggage to the bedroom she began to unpack her things, despite the weight when laid out before her it seemed pitiful. All she had really brought were some casual clothes she acquired specifically for the mission, an assortment of medical paraphernalia, a few pairs of shoes and an empty journal. She had brought none of her manuscripts, potions, or even her staff as she feared it would compromise her role in Medusa's plan.

Quickly packing away what she had in the small dresser, she laid down upon the bed staring at the old flaky popcorn ceiling. Finally she was alone at least for a moment. She was still undoubtedly scared in this den of snakes any breath she took could be her last, yet part of her was excited. She knew despite the dangers Death City had much to offer her. Behind the terror there was a wealth of knowledge just waiting to be discovered.

Rolling over she gazed at the empty journal next to her. She picked it up holding it in her smooth hands. It was nothing like what she was used to. It was a small simple journal with 100 sheets of clean lined paper waiting to be filled a stark contrast from the messy rough parchment she normally utilized.

(Y/N) got up to scour the room for a writing utensil, with all her preparation she had still forgot to bring one. After searching and searching she found none. Swallowing her pride, (Y/N) decided to just leave and get one.

After grabbing some cash she had prepared (Y/N) set out on the streets. They seemed busier now then when she first arrived. Small groups of children roomed the streets many giggling to themselves engaging in a world of their own. She wove her way through the confusing maze of streets looking for some sort of general store in which she could find what she sought.
The problem was most of the stores she could spy had rather strange signs. Most seemed to just be variations of skulls and other foreboding images. In (Y/N)'s quest to decipher the meaning of these images she failed to notice her path heading straight into the one of an equally unsuspecting passerby.

Before she knew it (Y/N) had collided with a young girl knocking both of them off their feet.
"I'm so sorry I didn't see where I was going," the girl began swiftly getting up and gather the book that had fell to the ground with her, presumably what had caused her to crash into (Y/N) in the first place.

"I apologize as well, forgive me I was distracted," (Y/N) mumbled looking up just enough to get a view of the girl. She wore a school uniform with her light brown hair parted evenly into two pigtails on either side of her head. A red hardcover laid on the ground near the girl, presumably what hade caused her to bump into (Y/N) in the first place.

(Y/N) picked up the book handing it to her.

"Ah, thank you"

"No worries" (Y/N) murmured quietly.

"Are you new to Death City?" The girls asked as she took a moment to straighten out her yellow sweater.

"Oh, yes" (Y/N) laughed awkwardly, "I guess it's obvious"

"Don't worry about it I'm sure you'll get used to it" The girl said with a warm smile "It can be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll be fine" She nodded eyes brimming with confidence.

(Y/N) chuckled before giving a meek wave and turning away from the girl continuing down the strange streets of Death City.

~Author's Note~
Hey sorry it's been awhile since the last update, I had this mostly finished sitting in my drafts for a while I wanted to finish it up and get it out there. I want to try to instill some time skips in the future so we can actually get stuff going on as I think I've been kind of wasting a lot of time with set up so far.
Thank you for reading ^^
