When I was a little girl, my father used to get me a lot of dolls. He knew how much I loved them so sometimes he would sit there and watch me play and just smile. I didn't know what he used to think but it was something that would make him happy and sad at the same time.
My sister and I would arrange a marriage ceremony for our dolls, where we invited our friends. The idea of marriage, The bond between a man and a woman for life always fascinated me. Little did I know, no matter how beautiful a bride looks on her wedding day, nobody can promise a beautiful future.
My life wasn't different from any ordinary girl with dreams, but unfortunately those dreams were shattered into pieces. And no matter how much I tried to put the pieces back together, I simply couldn't.***
"Let's go", I said, appearing before him in that new dress I had bought earlier that day. He looked up from his phone, sized me up and uttered the words I hoped not hear, "Not like this..." He muttered, flaring his nostrils. "Why do you do this? -- haven't I told you like a million Times, I hate such clothes ... but you! O' I see you wear such dresses to attract other men, huh!" "No..." I replied, lowering my gaze; that was all I could manage to say.
He never took me with him to the gatherings for obvious reasons but today was an exception. So I tried my best to dress up the way he wanted and I looked good or at least that's what I thought and inwardly wished that may be this time he might consider taking me along.
"You want men to buzz around you like flies and praise your manners," he said, woefully.
Feeling humiliated, I made the mistake of accusing him of the same thing, with women of-course; only I was right. He did have in him that charm to impress but he did that to make people like him -- especially ladies -- and his charm always worked. Who knew that better than me?
I thought my words would cut through him, but they only fueled his rage even more.
He hit me across the face and I stumbled and bumped my head into the coffee table. "Don't" he said and left.
