Chapter 54

Earlier that day in school

Normani's POV:

"Girls I think we need to talk about the five. Something's bothering them, especially Chamber, and we don't know what it is, but I know there's something, besides Darius." I told them as soon as we sat at the table.

"There's Champ over there," Ally nodded her head to where Chamber is. We turn our heads to see Chamber and Camila standing by the door of the cafeteria. They were talking, then Chamber kissed Mila's cheek, waved at us when she glanced at our table before rushing away.

Camila looked down then walked to our usual table, a frown placed on her lips. She flopped down on the bench then sighed, putting her head down on the table.

"Let me guess, Chamber went off to her friends again?" Dinah asked Camila. She shrugged then looked up at her, her head still attached to the table, her chin supporting her so she can face us.

"That's not why I'm sad about," She said, all of us looked confused. "Whatcha mean Walz?" Dinah asked again.

She sighed then sit up straight. "You all got the chance to be touchy touchy and kissy kissy on Chamber, especially Dinah," Dinah raised her hand up in defense. "and I couldn't even be near Chamber without tripping or falling face or butt first in front of her."

"Camz, don't worry about that. I'm sure you won't trip or fall over in front or on top of Chamber when you two are close." Lauren assured Camila.

"Yeah, plus it'll be funny when you accidentally humiliate yourself in front of Chamber, that and you made her smile and laugh as well." Ally hit Dinah on the back of the head. I rolled my eyes at Dinah.

"What Dinah meant was, just be careful on not tripping or falling yourself over, you don't want Chamber to worry more, you know her." The three nodded with me in agreement. "But what Dinah said is true, maybe Chamber will laugh in a good way if yo clumsy self trip or fall over. I'm just saying." Camila groaned then put her head down on the table.

"But that's not what we are worried about Mila. Chamber seems...off today. I haven't seen her in two class." I told them. Camila immediately shot up. "I haven't seen her in my classes as well."

"Well you two talked before you entered the cafeteria, what did you guys talked about?" Ally asked. "I asked where was she for the first half of the day, and she said she went to an emergency meeting. And when we by the door she said she'll see us at gym class and she said she need to go to her subject teachers to talk just in case she missed something. And then that's it, she rushed out." Camila said to all of us.

"Something's telling in my gut Champ's lying." Dinah said. I nod my head at her. "She looked like she's bothered, she didn't seemed like her this morning, she seemed... different."

"Yeah, she didn't look quite herself when Lauren and Lucy had an argument. And by the tone on Chamber's voice earlier, it seems she really wanted to kill Lucy with her bare hands. That's not Chamber when she's in a fight. So something really is bothering her." We all agreed at Ally's statement.

"Or better yet hiding," I told them which caused them to look at me confused, except Lauren. "Think about it, we saw Chamber and the four walk in in school. During our break I saw Chamber's car parked outside school, her usual spot. I saw Davenport and Stanford exit the roof deck and head to the parking lot, Harrington and Bradford following suit before our break. And a few minutes after lunch started, Chamber fled to who knows where.

"Her posture is not the old Chamber from last year or the past years we knows, this time it's different. Cold. That's what it is. Her voice, her stare, the way she talks to people earlier is cold, colder than Lauren's skin," Lauren gave me a glare then proceeded to eat her taco. "all I'm saying is, ever since she went back home to her family left in Philippines, she changed, like literally changed."
