Over the next two weeks, Jungkook didn't see Y/N at all. She ignored his phone calls and texts then finally blocked his number. She was never in the cafeteria anymore and he never saw her outside the school building.
During lunch break one afternoon, Jungkook approached the table, noticing it was only Jimin and Taehyung. Hoseok, Yoongi, and Y/N were missing.
Jimin smiled at him when he approached. "Hey, the prodigal son returns! How are you my friend?" he asked.
Jungkook smiled back at the welcome. "Where's Y/N?" he asked. "I haven't seen her in a couple weeks."
Jimin's smile faded. He looked to Taehyung, who quickly shook his head. "Uhh... I'm not really sure," he said, looking down at the table.
Jungkook knew by his refusal to make eye contact that his friend was lying to him. "What's going on guys? Where is she? She blocked my number and refuses to take my calls."
Jimin reached out and patted his hand. "Jungkookie, you're my friend, so I'm going to ask you for a favor," he said.
Jungkook looked at him in confusion. "Okay?" he asked.
Jimin squeezed his friend's hand. "Please. Please leave her alone. She... she needs time to heal," Jimin pleaded.
Taehyung looked at Jungkook sadly. "She's broken right now. She doesn't want to see you and she won't even talk about you. If someone brings up your name, she leaves," he explained.
Jimin nodded sadly. "Y/N barely even jokes with me anymore. She's like a different person. Hoseok and Yoongi are the only ones who can reach her right now. I don't know what happened to my best friend, but Tae's right. She's broken," he said, tears filling his eyes. "So please. Leave her alone."
Jungkook nodded. His heart broke at the plea, but he knew it was the right thing to do. He would leave her alone. He would walk away from his beautiful best friend because he knew deep down that he didn't deserve her. He had destroyed their friendship with his harsh words and she would never forgive him.
Jungkook looked up when he heard Jimin's quick inhale. Y/N was standing at the door to the cafeteria, flanked on either side by Hoseok and Yoongi. Jungkook was shocked by what he saw. Her face was pale and she had clearly lost weight. Her eyes had lost their bright glow and her jaw clenched tight when she made eye contact before quickly looking down at the ground.
Hoseok glared at him then wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her towards the lunch queue. Jungkook automatically moved to go to her, but stopped at Yoongi's quick shake of his head. Jungkook's shoulders slumped and he exited the cafeteria after giving Jimin and Taehyung a quick goodbye.
After getting her lunch, Y/N sat down at the table next to Jimin. Hoseok sat on her other side with Yoongi across from her. Knowing she needed his easy affection, Jimin wrapped an arm around her. "You okay baby?" he asked, whispering in her ear then kissing her cheek.
Y/N shook her head before snuggling into his chest, surprising them both. "No, but I will be," she said.
Jimin pulled her closer. "I'm here baby," he said quietly.
Y/N kissed his cheek before settling down next to him. "I know Jiminie. I know."

That afternoon, Jungkook was at Mina's house helping her finalize the last details for her party the next weekend. She was rambling on about something and Jungkook was only half paying attention until he heard Y/N's name.
"So Y/N said she's not dating Jimin, but I think that's not true. He had four different girls ask him to the party, but he said no since he's taken by someone else. They've been seen together five times in the last two weeks. I saw them at lunch today and they looked awfully snuggly," she continued on.
Jungkook's chest tightened with an unexplained jealousy at her words. "I don't think she's dating him," he said, trying to convince himself. Maybe that's why Jimin asked me to leave her alone he said to himself.
"Well clearly she can't date Yoongi since she has no soulmate mark. It would be wrong of her to steal him away from someone else who is supposed to be with him," Mina said.
Jungkook's fists clenched at the snarky tone in her voice. "It's not her fault she doesn't have a soulmate mark and she's not stealing Yoongi away from anyone," he said, the irritation evident in his voice.
Mina quickly shrugged it off. "You know what I mean. But it's not important. If Y/N's not dating Jimin, I'm going to try my hardest to get them together," she said. "They would be so cute together. They were so adorable in the cafeteria. The way he looked at her was so filled with love and adoration, it made my heart melt."
Jungkook truly wanted Y/N to be happy, but he couldn't bear the thought of her with Jimin. It just didn't seem right. Jimin was a huge flirt and he didn't want to see her hurt by him. He said as much to Mina.
Mina narrowed her eyes. "You know what? I've never seen him flirt with another girl. He only flirts with her," she said. "I think he's liked her all along. Maybe since Yoongi showed up and moved in on his territory, it was a sign to move the relationship along."
Jungkook tried to push down the feelings in his chest. Why shouldn't his best friend be happy with someone else? Why couldn't it be Jimin? Mina was right come to think of it. The girls in their college hit on him all the time, but he never once reciprocated. He was always polite, but brushed off their advances as if they were no more than mere flies. Y/N was the only one he truly showed open affection to. Jungkook wondered if Jimin's pleas to leave her alone were because he wanted her for himself and didn't want Jungkook interfering in their relationship.
