Jimin checked his watch anxiously. "Where is she?" he asked Jungkook and Yoongi worriedly. "She's never this late."
Jungkook looked at his friend's worried face. "I don't know Jiminie," he said.
Yoongi sighed. "I'm going to go check on her," he said. "She's taking too long."
Jimin nodded. "I'm coming with you," he said.
"So am I," Jungkook replied.
The guys headed back into the building. They saw Jennie heading into the girls' bathroom. She had blood on her hands. When she saw Jimin, her face went white and she hurried into the bathroom, slamming and locking the door.
Jimin ran up to the door and pounded on it. "Where is she Jennie?" he yelled. No answer.
Yoongi ran past him and looked around the corner. "Y/N!" he yelled, his voice bordering on hysterical.
Jimin followed Yoongi's voice and saw his beautiful soulmate on the ground, in a pool of blood. Her face was deathly white and she wasn't moving. Jimin darted to her and dropped to his knees, next to her, tears pouring down his cheeks. "Baby wake up," he pleaded, touching her cheek. He wanted to gather her in his arms, but was afraid to move her. "Call the ambulance," he yelled to Jungkook.
Jungkook pulled his phone out, dialing the number in a haze. "We need an ambulance. She's been hurt. So much blood," he said into the phone. He gave the location and his phone fell from his fingers. He kneeled next to Y/N, taking her other hand.
Jimin was on his knees, holding her hand and sobbing. "Please baby. Don't leave me. Wake up," he cried, his voice breaking.
Through the fog in his mind, Jungkook heard the sound of sirens. He got to his feet as three paramedics came rushing down the hallway, a stretcher between them. One of them kneeled by Y/N's side, gently pushing Jimin aside. "Please sir. We'll take care of her," he said.
Jimin carefully stood and stumbled backwards into Jungkook's arms. "Oh god JK! Why did this happen? Why did she have to hurt her?" he wailed, sobbing into the other man's shirt.
Jungkook rubbed his friend's back, tears pouring down his own cheeks. "I don't know. I don't know," he said softly.
One of the paramedics cut down the center of Y/N's shirt, exposing her chest. Jungkook went to turn away to give her privacy, but his heart caught at the mark on her chest above her heart. It was a Treble clef music note, the last stroke creating a heart rhythm and it was glossy black. Jungkook looked down at the soulmate mark on his wrist. It too was a glossy black. Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise. That meant that Y/N... was... his... soulmate!
Jungkook grabbed Jimin's collar. "You have three seconds to explain," he said, a glare on his face.
Jimin's eyes filled with guilt. "Y/N's my soulmate too. We have the same mark," he said, his voice filled with worry. "She wasn't ready to tell you so we lied and said I didn't have one either."
Jungkook's mind glazed over. His beautiful best friend was his soulmate. She had hid it from him from him for months. Jungkook thought back to the events since Y/N's birthday. She had avoided touching him ever since. He should have seen it. He should have noticed something as wrong. How could he have been so blind?
Jungkook wrapped Jimin in his arms. He wanted to be angry with his friend. He wanted to hate him. There was something that was stopping him. Jimin had lied to protect her from him. Jungkook's heart broke when he realized they believed she needed to be protected. Hoseok's words came ringing back in his ears. Hoseok must have known all along!
Jungkook's chest tightened at what his beautiful best friend and soulmate must have gone through. She knew she was his soulmate but watched him fawn over Mina. She watched him kiss her and hold her. It must have broken her heart.
The paramedics gently placed Y/N on the stretcher, an oxygen mask covering her face. They hurried down the hallway, with Jimin, Jungkook, and Yoongi following behind them. As they got in the ambulance, Jimin and Jungkook went to follow. "Sorry. Only one," one of the paramedics said.
Jungkook pushed Jimin forward. "Go," he said. "We'll meet you there."
Jimin nodded once in thanks, then climbed into the ambulance. The doors slammed shut and it raced away, its sirens screaming out in the quiet afternoon.
Yoongi grabbed Jungkook's wrist and dragged him to his car. He shoved him in the passenger seat then raced around to the driver's seat. Yoongi started the car, gunned the engine and pealed out of the parking lot, gravel flying up behind his tires.
"Did you know?" Jungkook asked.
Yoongi shook his head. "I swear I didn't. I should have realized it when she wouldn't touch you, but I ignored it."
Jungkook nodded then reached for his phone. He remembered dropping it on the floor in the hallway. Yoongi saw his expression and reached into his pocket, shoving his phone at Jungkook. Jungkook gave him a small smile of thanks, then scrolled through the contacts. He pressed Hoseok's name and waited for the call to connect.
"Hey Yoongi..." Hoseok's voice said.
"Hobi, it's Y/N," Jungkook whispered.
"JK? Why do you have Yoongi's phone? What's going on with Y/N? Where the hell is she?" Hoseok demanded, his voice filled with worry.
"She was hurt. Really badly. We're on our way to the hospital. Jimin's with her in the ambulance," Jungkook blurted out, the panic rising in his voice.
"I'm on my way," Hoseok yelled.
"Hobi? She's my soulmate," Jungkook said softly.
Hoseok sighed. "I know. I'll be there in 10," he said before disconnecting the call.
Jungkook dropped Yoongi's phone in the cup holder then looked out the window. His hands were shaking at the thought of losing Y/N.
Yoongi pulled up to the emergency entrance. Jungkook jumped out of the car before Yoongi could fully put in park. He stumbled through the automatic doors, stopping at the desk and addressing the older woman seated behind it. "Chang Y/N," he said anxiously. "She was just brought in by an ambulance."
The woman behind the desk nodded sympathetically and typed a few things on her computer. "Ms. Chang is with the doctor right now," she said. "Please be seated and someone will be with you shortly."
"Please ma'am. She's my soulmate," Jungkook whispered.
The woman nodded in understanding. "I'll let the doctor know," she said kindly.
Jungkook stumbled over to the hard plastic chairs and plopped down on one. Yoongi came in and sat down next to him, rubbing his back. "She's gonna be okay. Y/N's a fighter," he said. "Tae's on his way, too."
Jungkook nodded, not really hearing the words. He looked up at a commotion at the door. Hoseok came charging in, his eyes red and puffy. "Where is she? What's going on?" he asked.
Jungkook pointed toward the doors. "She's in with the doctor. They told me to wait here," he said quietly. "They won't let me in."
A door opened and they all looked to see Jimin come out. His face was pale and tears were streaming down his cheeks. Hoseok went towards him and Jimin buried his face in his chest. "She's hurt so bad. They hurt my baby," he cried out, his voice breaking.
"What did the doctors say?" Hoseok asked.
"They're checking her over right now. They gave her some medicine to keep her asleep. She's in a coma," Jimin blurted out, before dropping to his knees. He covered his face, sobbing. "What if she doesn't wake up? What will I do without her?"
Jungkook's chest tightened at Jimin's words. He went to his friend, kneeled down and wrapped the other man in his arms. "She's going to be fine. Our soulmate is going to be fine," he whispered, soaking Jimin's shirt with his own tears.
