Jones Beach-Spring Break 1988

Jordan throws the football to Donnie, who dodges Jon and Danny as they try to tackle him. Touchdown!!!

Donnie and Jordan celebrate. A group of hot girls catches Jordan's eye. He points them out to Donnie. When the girls see them looking at them they all start to giggle and whisper to each other.

They guys all walk over to the girls. Jordan's got his eyes on the really cute girl in the tiny pink bikini.

"Hi. I'm Jordan. What's your name?"

The girl takes his outstretched hand and says, "Hi Jordan. I'm Sara Beth. Where are you from?"

"Boston. You?" He asks her. "I'm from here."

Jordan ends up spending the day with Sara Beth. They sit on the beach and talk most of the day. She's easy to talk to. And she's gorgeous. She's got the prettiest smile he's ever seen. She never takes her eyes off of him when he's talking to her. He likes that.

At the end of the day, Jordan tells Sara Beth goodnight. But they make plans to hang out the next day at the arcade on the boardwalk. Jordan's excited when he sees her walk into the arcade the next afternoon. They have a great time. Playing video games and skee ball. They even sneak off and share their first kiss between two videos games. Its the best kiss Jordan's ever had. He knows he just met her, but he already likes her.
They spend the next day hanging out together at the movies. Really they spend most the time making out in the dark theater. She even allows him to get to second base.

Jordan spends the whole week hanging out with Sara Beth. He can't believe how much he likes her. He wishes he could stay there forever with her. But there's no way, he's seventeen and she's only sixteen. They're too young to be together forever. Donnie tells Jordan he's crazy to think he feels anything for her. "Hell man, she's only the second girl you've kissed. For Christ's sake Jordan you're still a virgin. At least have sex with a girl before you decide its forever."

To Jordan's complete surprise Sara Beth shows up at his hotel room the last night he's there. Jordan has the room to himself. So they have all the privacy they need. Sara Beth cries, she's sad that Jordan is leaving the next day. They lay on his bed and he holds her in his arms as they cry together. He kisses her tear streaked cheeks. She kisses his lips. They start making out. It gets hotter and heavier, until she tells him that she wants him to be her first.

"Are you sure Sara? We don't have to have sex. Not that I don't want to. But if you're not ready..."

"Jordan, I'm ready. And I want it to be with you."

Jordan is nervous. Its his first time too. He doesn't want to disappoint her. Jordan takes his time, he's gentle and loving.

They lay there together afterwards and enjoy what they just experienced together. "Was it okay for you Sara Beth? It didn't hurt too bad did it? I tried to be gentle. I honestly wasn't sure I was doing it right. It was my first time too." He confesses to her.

"It was? Why didn't you tell me that before? Everything about it was good Jordan. Even better now that I know it was both our first times." Sara Beth kisses him before she has to leave to go home. She's already late. They swear to stay in touch and he promises to come back this summer to see her again.

But they never spoke again. Jordan never heard from her. He'd called her and she never called back. He even went back to Jones Beach that summer like he promised her he would, but couldn't find her. He looked for her friends too. No luck finding her though. He gave up trying to find her and moved on. But over the years he never forgot her. He'd often thought of her and that wonderful week they'd spent together in 1988.

Present Day

Its been a week since Jordan had ran into Sara Beth and he can't stop thinking about what Jon had said. He'd tried to do the math and Amber was born nine months after that spring break. She couldn't be his though. Wouldn't he know if he'd gotten a girl pregnant? No, surely he didn't get her pregnant his first time. That was a crazy thought to have, of course he could have gotten a girl pregnant his first time. He needed to talk to Sara. He's sure he's wrong, but he'd like to know for sure.

The next time he's working with Amber on their song he starts asking her questions. "So when did you find out you were adopted?"

Amber looks at him strangely, he never asks her personal questions. "My parents told me I was adopted when I was five or six. As soon as they thought I'd understand."

Jordan doesn't think a five or six year old would understand the concept of adoption. His son is nine and he's not sure even he'd understand the meaning. "How old were you when you met Sara? Did you always know who she was? Or did your parents wait until you were grown to tell you who your parents were. Have you met your birth father?"

"My parents told me who my birth mom was when I turned eighteen. I met her a year or so later. I don't know who my birth father is. There wasn't a name on my birth certificate or adoption papers. And Sara hasn't mentioned him to me, but I guess I haven't asked about him either. I'm afraid she won't know who he is or something." Amber looks away from Jordan, feeling a little ashamed to admit she hasn't asked about who her birth dad is. She can't imagine how that makes him feel, being a dad himself. "But I plan on asking her. I'd like to know who he is too. Maybe meet him someday. I'd like to see if I got my musical talents from him. Sara says she can't play any instruments or carry a tune."

"How old were you when you realized you had a love for music?"

"Well my mom told me that when I was three or four I showed a real interest in playing piano. So she got me lessons. I was a very quick learner. And the love grew from there."
