You felt happy. Safe. Wanted.

You felt complete for the first time in a very long time...

and soon you started to realize that someone was the reason why:

Alexander.

You were aware that it might sound odd and dumb to many, you know, feeling that way forThe Devil after all his actions and words - and not solely towards you, but towards the whole humanity. If you ever had to explain this to someone, you bet that person would probably just back away and turn a blind eye to you.

You would not blame them, though. It was a fact that Alexander could be eerie, arrogant, cruel, and heartless... Everybody sort of knew The Devil - but you doubted that he was just that. Deep down, you hoped he could be kind, lovely, sincere and helpful... And you were willing to make him show that to God.

Although maybe you were just too hopeful because you genuinely liked him and you refused to believe that he was a terrible person without further ado. You had your reasons to be hopeful: he had shown interest in you - and even healed you once before clarifying he had never done such a thing in the past - but whenever you start to feel all the butterflies in your stomach thinking about it, you force yourself to come back to reality:

And the reality was that he would have to leave someday.

Maybe forever. Maybe for a while.

But he would leave anyway,
he didn't belong here on Earth.

You shouldn't fall for him more.

But he made it hard. Very hard.

Alexander had spent the whole way whining and complaining - at first you giggled at his stubbornness, but after a while, he started to unnerve you. How could someone be so grumpy? Taking a deep breath, you were grateful to finally reach the huge, coveted shopping center.

As soon as you both entered the building, you felt a soft, trembling hand grazing yours. Five rigid fingers intertwine with your relaxed ones and gave your hand a tight squeeze. You looked down at it, biting your lower lip trying to hide your grin. Then you looked up at him, and when your eyes met his, you noticed it.

Alexander had that face on.

That terrified look that would accompany him whenever he was in a crowded place. He looked so lost and uncomfortable. Even defenceless, being alert looking at literally everywhere his eyes allowed him.

Your grin was now visible, trying to show him encouragement as you gave his hand a little squeeze back, trying your best to calm him down. That made him focus on you and only you. That was your goal, to remind him that you were right there beside him and had nothing to fear.

"You know you're safe with me, don't you?" -You said reassuringly.

"Of course." -He replied without hesitation, gifting you another squeeze while you went to one of the clothing stores. He kept looking around non-stop. -"It's just..."

"What?" -You looked up at him.

"I don't wanna get lost in here." -He frowned.

You couldn't help it but laugh. -"I thought you said you weren't scared of anything?"

"And I'm not." -He snorted. -"I just fuckin' hate people... I mean, with the exception of you, I dislike everyone 'ere."

"Oh, poor thing." -You mocked him, making Alexander roll his eyes. -"But don't worry, your favorite mortal won't let you get lost."
