I was taken aback. Was he talking to me? An uncomfortable silence filled the carriage. "hello?!" he said sharply. I snapped back into reality. "Oh i- um, is anyone sitting here?" i stuttered, clearly flustered. "All the seats on the train, and you want to sit here?" the boy said bluntly. I was shocked, why was he being so rude. "I just- um, can i set there or not?" i spit out. The corner of the boys lips turned downwards, as he looked me up and down. with a disgusted look one his face he nodded briefly.
I quickly shuffled into the carriage, placing my luggage in the space above me. We fell into silence once again. "so what's your name?" i asked politely, trying to fill the horrid silence with small talk. "i agreed to let you sit in here, not to chit chat," the blonde haired boy said rudely. "Jeez, only trying to make small talk," i said sheepishly, "No one likes small talk," the boy replied. I let out a small chuckle, the boy noticed and looked up at me his eyes had a furious glow.
"my names Draco, Draco Malfoy," the boy said finally after a small while, i recognized the last name, my parents liked to keep me out of there wizarding business so i didn't know if him being a malfoy was good or bad. looking back, i know the answer. "My names Sylvia, Sylvia james." i replied, "James?" The boy said abruptly, "never heard of it, your family must be irrelevant then, or worse your a mudblood, either way i don't care."
His rudeness was humorous, i almost thought he was joking. "well i'm not a 'mudblood', my fathers an auror and my mother goes around the world studying magical creatures and" "as i said, i don't fucking care" he interrupted. Once again his rudeness shocked me, i scoffed and turned my head to look out the window, we were far into the country side now.
about 5 minutes later two largely built boys knocked on the carriage door, they looked at draco and then back at me and sniggered, i struggled to hide the angry flush covering my face. "malfoy!" the slightly larger boy said, "potters up there, telling everyone about some 'dream'." draco laughed, got up and followed the boys out of the carriage.
i may not have known much about the wizarding world, but even then i knew who harry potter was. My curiosity nearly got the better of me and i desperately wanted to go meet 'the' harry potter. better not i told myself.
after a while, Draco returned by himself, i was surprised when he started talking to me. "that potters a right psycho, hearing things in his sleep, what a looney!" he said chuckling to himself. "speaking to me now are you?" i said mischievously, i grinned as he looked up shocked that i had said something back. i liked this. i liked watching him have a dose of his own medicine. It was clear he didn't like me, part of me liked that and the other hated it. "i'd watch your mouth if i were you james" he said clearly angered by my comment. the train was coming to a stop, i knew i had to say something before i left. "i may not have known you for very long, and maybe this is rude of me to make assumptions, but you don't seem like a very nice person. i'll see you around...malfoy" i said smirking as i got up, grabbed my bags and left the carriage. The stunned look on his face gave me all the satisfaction i needed.
