i glanced out of one of the windows and looked at the hogwarts castle, it was as beautiful as my mother and father had always described it. I stood there for a few seconds soaking up the view before i heard a voice behind me. "um excuse me" said a curly haired boy, i quickly looked up and realised i was blocking the train of people trying to get off. " oh i'm so sorry!" i said embarrassed out of my mind, but unfortunately my embarrassment only further continued when i began to walk of the train only to trip over my trunk. "neville!" said a girls voice , "sorry, would you like a hand?" I peered back around to see a short girl with bright fiery hair trying to elbow her way toward me. " Here" she said grabbing my trunk, " let me help you". the red haired girl carried my bag off the train before placing it at my feet. "i'm sorry i don't believe we've met...are you new?" the girl asked curiously. "is it that obvious." i joked, "im sylvia" i said as i shaked the girls hand, "i'm ginny, and this is neville," she gestured to the boy who had followed her gingerly off the train. trying to seem cool i simply smiled and waved at him. "are you a fourth year?" the girl questioned, "no i'm a fifth" i said abruptly. "ah same year as me!" said neville, his face lighting up. "seeing as your new, does that mean you need to get sorted?" said the rather awkward boy i now knew to be neville. the thought of getting sorted had completely slipped my mind. "uh yes i suppose so," almost the moment the words left my mouth, i felt a light tap on my shoulder, i turned round to be greeted by a tall elderly witch with glasses.
"Miss james?" the women said, i nodded my head quickly as she told me to follow her to be sorted. i turned back around and briefly said goodbye to the two students before i was dragged of into a classroom by the teacher. " Hello sylvia, i am professor mcgonagall, and this is your head master professor albus dumbldore. she gestured toward an older wizard with a long white beard, half moon glasses and a big beaming smile on his face. "hello there miss james, if you care to take a seat and we can get you sorted and on your way. I must say i was most excited when i get the letter from your father at the beginning of the holidays. The james's, what a wonderful line of wizards." the man said staring off with a nostalgic look on his face. after quickly flashing him a smile, i sat down on the chair next to him as another professor placed a funny looking hat on my head. Almost instantaneously the hat shouted out "GRYFFINDOR!" this was no suprise to me. my family is a long line of gryffindors. Professor mcgonagall told me to grab my things and follow her to my dorm. The groups of girls turned to me as i entered the room, a couple flashing me a smile and a few briefly saying hello before leading out the door i had entered through. "ah another gryffindor!" i quickly turned around to see a bushy haired girl standing smiling at me in the corner, "hi i'm sylvia" i said tucking a piece of my mousy hair behind my ear before reaching for the hand she had offered me. "i'm hermione" she said, i flashed her a quick smile. The dorm was cosy, a number of four poster beds lined the room, along with blood red gryffindor banners hanging from every wall. It had been a long day, today was the start of a new journey, i was in gryffindor, had made some new friends, a new school experience ahead of me. But why could i not stop thinking about the blonde haired boy from the train? My train of thought was quickly interrupted by another gryffindor girl, she had long wavy hair and was extremely pretty. "i'm lavender!" she said abruptly, " who you gonna sit by during the feast, it's your first day right?" she said aggressively grabbing onto my shoulder, hermione who clearly noticed my uncomfortable state barged past. "god give it a rest will you lavender" said hermione practically prising me of off the girl. After a brief conversation with the other gryffindor girls, me and hermione went down for the feast. The great hall was huge, the mammoth tables were covered with hundreds of plates of steaming food. i quickly scoured the gigantic room until my eyes fell upon the ginger haired girl, although saying that it wasn't hard to spot her electric hair in a crowd. i briefly said goodbye to hermione and made my way over to ginny. "friendly with hermione are you?" the girl asked lifting her head from her mounted plate of food. "oh yeh she's nice," "don't tell anyone but my brothers literally in love with her" she turned and laughed to the girl next to her.
whilst ginny was deep in conversation with her fellow fourth years, i took a quick look around the intimidatingly large room, my eyes landed on the slytherin table. The boys and girls where huddled over the tables, there heads down in conversation. i heard sniggers, swearing and some of them would occasionally look up and peer at the other houses tables. I caught eyes with one of the girls, the moment our eyes met she shot me an icy cold look and laughed to the group. i felt my cheeks flare up with embarrassment. my eyes wondered to the boy sat next to her, who was also deep in conversation with the table. he was unrecognizably the boy from the train. He looked up, and our eyes briefly caught one another. his silvery stare was intimidating. he shot me an evil smirk and turned his head back to the girl sat beside him. "you alright?" clearly caught off guard i quickly turned around to see kind brown eyes staring at me in curiosity. "oh yeh sorry i was just uh...looking at the decor" i masked my lie with a sweet smile. " yeh it's stunning isnt it" the boy had a thick irish accent. "i'm seamus"
" well what are you waiting for" ginny said peering around the table, "everybody dig in!" peoples hands darted from plate to plate. the dishes that surrounded me quickly filled up. seamus picked up a few chicken legs and threw them on his plate and stuffed one in his mouth. "seriously?" uttered a gryffindor girl sat next to him, eyeing over at me. clearly embarrassed he simply looked up and gave a sweet apologetic smile to which i giggled at. whilst i chowed down on some food, i couldn't help but feel eyes on me, burning into my skin. I discreetly swivelled round on my chair to see if anyone was looking at me, It was draco. He tried his hardest to disguise the fact he had been staring and began to look aimlessly around the hall. i wasn't sure wether to laugh or blush. instead i did neither and chose to ignore it, i pretended i didn't notice and turned back around and engrossed myself in the tables conversation.
THE DRACO STUFF WILL START UP AGAIN IN THE NEXT ONE I PROMISE!
