TW: Abuse

Virgil's POV:

I tried to refrain from clutching my stomach where Deceit hit me to make myself seem more confident than I actually was. The only reason I think I was able to stand back up was because I was doing it for Patton.

That, and there was no one there to help me. No one. I was alone...but I tried not to think about that.

Deceit looked like he was hiding shock in his expression. I don't think he expected me to get up either. I never did when I was little, and he knew that.

He wasn't answering the question. "WELL?!" I shouted. "WHERE IS HE?!" Deceit opened his mouth to speak just as Remus appeared behind Deceit (which he could do because he was creativity and we were in the Imagination). Remus put a hand on Deceit's shoulder and he stopped.

Remus cleared his throat. "Virgil. Of all people, do you really think—"
"Oh, ENOUGH WOTH YOUR TRICKS!!!" I screamed. They weren't going to get to me this time. They had gotten to me my entire life, and I refused to let them trick me anymore. I had one goal, and one goal only.
"WHERE IS PATTON, REMUS?!" I practically screamed.

Remus smiled darkly and shrugged. "You really want to know where he is?" he asked. Then he snapped his fingers and Patton appeared next to him, bound and gagged, covered in bruises and scrapes, and without his glasses. What had they done to him...what kind of monster would do this to—

Then I started remembering scenes from my childhood again. Now was not the time. But actually seeing Patton made it all come back to me in an instant.

I was sitting in front of the TV and watching some kids' show. It was around the time I was still a kid, but Remus was probably in his late teens. I don't even remember what show I was watching. Something Disney. But Remus came over and sat down next to me on the couch. He scoffed when he saw it was Disney and promptly changed the channel.

"Hey!" I shouted, trying to reach over him and grab the remote from his hand. He rolled his eyes.
"Go away, you little twerp." Remus had told me. I whined.
"I was watching that, Remus! Give it back!"
"Oh, knock it off!" He shouted before kicking me in the stomach and sending my body tumbling off the couch.

Upon impact with the ground I cried out and Remus rolled his eyes.
"You're such a baby. Get up!" He yelled as he stood and stared down at me on the floor.
"No..." I said. "It hurts..."
"Oh, give me a break." Remus said as he pulled me to my feet. "That didn't hurt." He said.

Then he picked me up under the arms and slammed me into the wall while I screamed for him to put me down.

I cried. I screamed. He didn't listen. He just kept bashing my head into the wall and punching me. When he finally dropped me, I didn't get up. I stayed on the floor and he just nodded.
"Now, that hurt." He said before walking away and leaving me, crying on the floor...

They had done that to Patton. They had hurt him...like they used to hurt me.

They were never going to hurt him again.

I hadn't noticed the tears in my eyes, but Remus and Deceit did.
"Awww." Remus said mockingly. "Are you gonna cry, Virgil?" he asked.
I met their eyes, my expression one of pure rage and heartbreak.
"YOU DID THIS TO HIM?!" I screamed in the voice I got when I was really anxious.

It was a voice that sounded like multiple dark and anxious versions of myself screaming at the same time. It's pretty scary.

Remus lost the humor in his eyes for a brief moment and it was replaced with fear. It wasn't for long, but it was enough to tell me he was afraid. Afraid of me.

Good.

Patton coughed weakly, his eyes half-closed. Then it hit me. How long had it been since Patton had eaten?

I was furious and lunged towards Remus. He vanished with Patton just before impact and I landed on my chest, immediately scrambling up to face Deceit. I grabbed his collar and held him a couple feet in the air with a new strength born from my rage. He was afraid. He couldn't escape without Remus.

"YOU SLIMY SNAKE! WHY DID YOU HURT PATTON?! WHY? WHY, DECEIT?! WHY?" I screamed, still angered enough that my anxious voice was shining through. I hoped this wasn't affecting Thomas too badly...

Deceit trembled in my grasp. Good. He deserved it.
"I...Virgil, I—" he started.
"SAVE IT!" I screamed. "WHY DID YOU DO IT? YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET IT, YOU HEAR ME?!"

He yelled when I threw him to the ground. He fell on his back and groaned loudly upon impact. He deserved it. He did. As I was walking up to his body, still laying on the floor, Deceit began scooting away in fear. He held his hands up in defense. He looked so scared.....

I started remembering all the times they had abused me. Hit me. Starved me. I didn't want to feel bad for him.

But...the more I thought about it...the more I realized it was always Remus doing those things...

Sure. Deceit insulted me and teased me, but...he never hurt me...no, that couldn't be right...

.......no. It was. He had never hurt me before today.

Now here I was. Towering over him in rage after throwing him to the ground.

I was turning into Remus.

"ANSWER THe QUEStIOn..." I heard myself say. What was I doing? Deceit looked terrified...

"Deceit..." I tried. He flinched back. "Deceit." I said again. "I'm...I'm sorry. I'm not going to hurt you." Deceit looked up at me hesitantly in tears, wide-eyed. He was trembling. I had never seen him this afraid. He looked so scared...

Suddenly Remus appeared next to Deceit and scowled at him when he realized he was laying on the floor.
"REALLY?" He screamed, making Deceit flinch back. "I gave you ONE job." Deceit nodded slowly and looked to me desperately. His eyes were pleading for my help. For...for my help.
"Oh, get up." Remus said. Deceit tried and fell back immediately in pain. I didn't think I hurt him that badly...

Wow. I was a monster...

"He didn't hurt you." Remus said mockingly. It sounded awfully familiar...
Then Remus grabbed Deceit's arm and disappeared with him. The last look I got of Deceit was one of pure fear.

How had I been so blind?...

Roman and Logan suddenly burst through the door to the Imagination, breathing heavily. Roman's eyes were darting everywhere in fury and Logan just looked to me and smiled. When Roman finally saw me, he sighed in relief and ran up to me, hoodie in hand.

Thank goodness. I was about to lose it. Actually...no. I already had...
