TW: Panic Attack

Also, disclaimer: There is nothing wrong with being chubby.

Roman's POV:

It had been a few weeks since the incident. Patton and Deceit were recovering...even though Deceit eventually had to go back to the dark sides...

Everyone was still worried sick about Patton. From the moment we reunited, he refused to talk about it. He seemed emotionless now, occasionally giving us all a fake smile when he passed. He spent most of his time in his room.

We had all decided we needed to have a family meeting, but we couldn't tell Patton why.

We finally got Patton to agree to a family "movie night", and we were all waiting on the couch for him.

As he came down the stairs a couple minutes late, his steps slowed when he saw us all staring at him, the TV off. He looked at us nervously, gripping the railing.
"What...what's going on, guys?" he asked.

Logan patted the seat next to him.
"Patton...I think it's time we all talked about what happened..." Patton stared at us all for a moment, a little color draining from his face before he hesitantly walked over to the spot next to Logan and sat down.

He folded his hands in his lap, not making eye contact and we all sat in silence before Virgil finally spoke up.

"You've changed, Patton..." he said. When Patton didn't reply, he continued. "I haven't seen you actually smile in weeks...what...what happened? What did they do?" Patton shook his head before replying,
"Not they..."

We sat in silence for another minute before Logan added,
"OK...what did Remus do..."
Patton breathed deeply, seeming to be lost in thought before he replied.
"A lot of things..."

He sniffled to himself and removed his glasses, putting his hand over his eyes.

No one had ever seen him like this. Whatever Remus had done was bad...

"Patton..." I started, speaking softly. "If you are more specific, we can help you..."
Patton sighed before blurting shakily,
"Why do you guys treat me like a child?"

We all stared at him blankly for a moment, not sure how to respond or what he was talking about...he started to lightly sob.

"What..." Virgil started. "What do you mean, Pat?"
Patton breathed in quickly and raised his now tear-filled eyes to look at Virgil. "Did everyone know but me?" Virgil squinted, confused as to what Patton was talking about.
"Know...know what?" Patton sobbed again, trying desperately to keep himself together.
"Did everyone know...ab-about your childhood? How it was? The pain you went through?"

Virgil and Logan both went white...and I think my face went pale as well.

Remus told him...he told him about everything. Everything we'd tried to protect him from his whole life.

Virgil swallowed and then licked his dry lips before replying,
"Patton...we were only trying to protect you—"
"That's just it!" Patton stated, rising to his feet.
"I don't need to be 'protected'. I'm not a child! And if you treat me like one, you're no better than Remus!" He raised his hands up to his head and grabbed two fistfuls of hair before continuing.

"I could've helped you...but because I'm so childish and naive, I caused you more pain by making you think I couldn't handle it..." Patton suddenly realized he was yelling and threw his hand up over his mouth, tears streaming down his face.

He shakily stated, "M...Maybe I can't..." before heading back towards the stairs and sprinting up to his room.
