THREE YEARS LATER
Three years had passed and the Kingdom of Aria was in total peace. Lord Arthur had proposed to the Princess Charity and she agreed. They got married and were expecting their first child.
Courtney was long dead and no one had heard anything from the Blood Witch anymore. It seemed like all memories of Brian, Courtney and the Blood Witch never existed.
Prince Eric was to ascend to the throne whenever he found his bride, as was the custom in Aria, and he still hadn't found the 'One'. Countless selections were held but none of the girls picked from the best families were chosen.
Ella was no longer living in the Palace, she moved back to the Hastings Mansion with her mother who was concerned about her unmarried daughter.
Ella was no longer the little air of sunshine everyone knew, the years had turned her into a bitter and cold young lady. She spent all her time managing her father's businesses and turned away all the suitors that flocked weekly to the mansion.
Ella was sealing the letter she had addressed to Lord Arthur and his wife when Margaret entered the study, a cup of hot tea on a tray. Ella smiled at the faithful old lady who had been right here since when her father died.
"I told you not to bother with the tea, Margaret."
Margaret laughed. "And I did not listen. You have locked yourself in for too long." She placed the tray on the table and stared at the heaps of paper on the table.
Ella after tucking the letter in an envelope, pulled the tray to herself. "I prefer it this way. Work helps my mind wander to less unpleasant places."
Margaret didn't understand the girl anymore. She used to, maybe six years back, but now, not anymore.
"You are twenty-two-" Margaret started.
Ella's eyes became solid again. The kind of solid she reserved for everyone. "I don't want to speak about this anymore." She sipped from the white ceramic cup.
Margaret shrugged. "Very well then. You have a visitor."
Ella lowered the cup. "And who might this person be?"
"Prince Eric."
Ella almost spilled tea on her beige dress as she stormed out of the study. Sighing, Margaret picked the letter and the tray and walked out too.
Prince Eric was standing in the yard, eyes wandering over to the stables where the animals are kept, the servant quarters and finally to a livid Ella who was stomping down the stairs.
"I thought I asked you not to come here again." She hissed.
Prince Eric smirked. "And if I should remind you, this is my kingdom. I am free to go anywhere I want to."
Ella scoffed. "What do you want?"
"Marry me."
That was enough to knock the wind out of Ella's chest. "What did you just say?" She asked, breathlessly.
"Marry me." He repeated, staring into her eyes with his blue enchanting ones. She was supposed to hate him. No, she hated him. No. She had chased all the suitors away.
Tell him to go away. A part of her mind said.
"No."
The Prince moved closer, his breath touching her face. She gulped.
"Marry me."
"Y-yes... I mean no!" Ella exclaimed, half-laughing.
The Prince laughed and swept her into his arms, laying a firm kiss on her mouth. She pushed him away, folding her arms over her chest.
"I mean it. I said no."
