Kurapika POV
I woke up to the sound of the fire alarm.
Leorio had already gotten up and quickly ran into the other room, I was right behind him.
"I'm so sorry we were trying to make breakfast!" Gon yelled over the alarm. Killua sat on the counter rubbing his temples. Smoke was everywhere, the source being a pan Gon was using of seemingly very burnt eggs.
I quickly took the pan from Gon and turned off the stove while Leorio turned off the alarm. At least we know it works.
"I'm really sorry guys! We were going to surprise you!" He hung his head in shame.
"He means him, not we. I told him he doesn't know how to cook." Killua rolled his eyes and hopped off the counter, making his way to the couch.
"That was very sweet of you Gon but next time please don't use the stove if you don't know how to use it." Leorio sighed and opened the windows. I ruffled Gon's hair and began helping him clean up.
"Do you want to help me make breakfast instead?" Leorio walked in and placed a reassuring hand on Gon's shoulder. Gon smiled and nodded. I walked over and sat next to Killua, the two of us watching Leorio and Gon.
"I don't know what you see in him. He's so weird and embarrassing!" Killua watched as Leorio put an apron on Gon.
"I guess that's what I like about him. He's a major dork and it makes me happy. He embarrasses me because he loves me and likes to show it off. I think it's sweet." I pulled my knees to my chest and giggled, watching the two make pancakes. Leorio had gotten some batter on Gon's nose.
"Ew you're such a girl." Killua crossed his arms and looked away from the two. He seemed extra bitter today and I couldn't quite put my finger on why.
"How was the fort last night? Did you fall asleep quickly?" Killua shook his head no. I frowned.
"You feeling ok? You seem upset." I placed a hand on his shoulder, he shrugged me off.
"I'm fine." He looked over at Gon and watched him cook. Leorio was helping him flip the pancakes now. I gave a sad smile and pat Killua's back.
"Just know you can talk to me if you're ever feeling down, ok?" I stood up and walked into the bedroom and began to undress. The windows were open from the smoke this morning and the cold air felt good on my bare skin.
There were hints of snow outside and the city seemed more quiet than usual. I leaned my head out and looked down, smiling at the people walking below. Mind you I was still naked.
"Kurapika you can't do that!" Leorio ran into the room and wrapped me in a blanket. "What if someone sees you?!" He closed the windows and the curtains causing me to frown.
"Nobody could have seen me I was hidden by the wall." I dropped the blanket and went to my suitcase, sorting through the neatly stacked piles for clothes. I picked out my typical outfit I usually wore, except I only put on the undershirt and pants. I didn't need the whole get up since I wasn't going anywhere.
"Yea but what if-" He started, I looked over at him and raised a brow.
"You're too overprotective sometimes. Just because I'm mentally ill does not mean I need to be treated like a child." I stood up and crossed my arms.
His face fell.
Oh no.
I didn't mean to hurt his feelings it was more of a jest if anything!
"Leorio I didn't mean like I didn't like it-"
"It's fine! I completely understand. I know you're not a child and I shouldn't have been overly coddling. Please forgive me." He stood up and kissed my head before walking out of the room again. He sounded fine but it didn't erase the fact that he looked very hurt after what I had said.
I followed him back into the living room, Gon and Leorio were now serving the pancakes and Killua was emerging from under the fort. I sat down quietly and waited for my food. You could tell which ones were made by Leorio and which ones were made by Gon.
Of course I was not going to say anything about it.
"Gon yours look terrible, what'd you do? Burn them?" Killua stared down at his plate, I kicked him from under the table.
"Gon I think they're lovely! I like how creative the shapes are." I took a bite.
Oh they are burnt.
Leorio and I ate ours, mustering smiles and washing down the burnt chunks of pancake with our coffee. Killua refused to eat the ones served by Gon. Gon seemed overall happy except for the fact that Killua was being...
Really really mean.
"I'm sorry you don't like them Killua! I'll practice so you can enjoy them next time!" He grinned at Killua, waiting for approval.
"Yea yea, we'll see." He crossed his arms and pushed his plate away. "I'm not hungry anymore."
I furrowed my brows.
He reminded me a lot of myself from a long time ago. The first time I had went to Leorio's.
Dread filled me.
"Why don't we go see a movie today?!" Leorio broke up the tension in the room. Gon squealed.
"Please, you just want an excuse to kiss Kurapika." He smirked, Gon laughed and made kissy faces. I groaned and slumped in my chair, covering my face.
"And maybe I do! At least I have someone to," He made a kissy face, "with! You two losers are on your own!" He laughed and stood up, taking our plates. Killua got very quiet after that, retreating to the guest bedroom.
"What movie should we see?" Gon yelled from inside the fort. He had gotten in after Leorio took his plate.
"No scary movies." I crawled in after him.
"How about a romantic comedy? Those are always fun to watch." Leorio came in after he had finished the dishes. We were missing Killua.
"Romance is gross!" Gon giggled and threw a pillow at Leorio's head. Leorio smiled and tossed it back.
"Then we have to see it now!"
Leorio was so kind to Gon.
It made me so happy how he liked to take care of people.
He liked to take care of me too.
He didn't deserve what I said.
I am going make it up to him.
