A/N: Sorry this chapter (and the next) have a lot of plot and no Neji! but alas, it had to be done to set the stage for the rest of the story... don't worry, more Neji-and-Me time is coming up soon ;) alsooo again I apologize for spelling errors
The next morning I woke up to the sun shining on my eyes. Screwing my eyes shut tight in an attempt to block out the sun, I rolled over in bed and felt the mattress next to me. Instead of cuddling up with my warm sleepy husband, I was met with nothing but cold empty sheets. I let out a disappointed groan as I remembered Neji mentioning during dinner that since he had come straight home after his mission last night, he would have to leave early in the morning to give a mission report to the hokage before he did his daily training. I should really pay more attention when he's talking to me, I silently scolded myself. I had completely tuned him out half way through his rant about fate yesterday.
Sitting up in bed, I reached my fingertips into the air and stretched briefly (ignoring the dull throbbing between my legs) before getting ready for the day. As I padded towards the kitchen I couldn't help but yawn and rub sleep from my eyes. Even though sex with Neji had completely worn me out, I had hardly slept a wink last night. Every time I started to feel my eyelids getting heavy, I'd suddenly remember the horrified look on Lee's innocent face after he burst into our room last night and a wave of humiliation would keep me wide awake for another hour or so.
After eating a light breakfast and sipping some tea, I trudged into the bathroom and washed off all of the dried sweat and cum that was still crusted to me from the night before. After I dried myself off with a towel I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and involuntarily sucked in a sharp breath.
Purple hickeys and bruises formed constellations all over my body and I could distinctly make out Neji's fingerprints on my thighs. For such a perfectionist and a neat freak, he sure likes to make a mess of me I speculated with a frown. After rummaging in my closet for a few minutes I finally selected a simple pastel skirt with a matching head piece (it was one of Neji's favorites) and made sure to pick out a top that would best conceal the evidence on my neck of our wild evening- Neji did have somewhat of an uptight reputation he liked to uphold after all. Once I was ready and looking my best, I set out for the day.
It took me longer than usual to get to the center of the leaf village as my legs still felt like jello from last night. As I neared the Ichiraku Ramen Shop I could make out Lee's shiny bowl cut and green unitard as he did push-ups on the ground to pass the time while he waited for me.
"Lee!" I called getting his attention. I tried to pick up the pace and run towards him but I was stopped by a sharp pain resonating between my legs. Fuck, Neji really outdid himself this time, I cursed to myself with a wince. Lee's smile slipped into a frown as he took notice of my discomfort.
"Good morning, [y/n]. Are you certain that you are in good condition to walk?" Lee chirped.
"Of course I am!" I exclaimed, feeling my cheeks begin to burn with embarrassment. "I could never miss our post-mission walk."
Whenever team Guy returned from a mission, Lee and I never failed to go on our 'post-mission walk' the following morning, depending on his condition. By "walk" I really meant that I would walk a lap around the village while Lee did something a bit more preposterous such as walking the entire way on his hands, or sprinting circles around me the entire time "for a bit of light training" as he put it. Today however, Lee chose to walk by my side even as we trudged along at the pace of a snail. It was all the faster my wobbly legs would allow me to go.
After a few minutes of excruciating silence, Lee suddenly halted in his tracks. "Huh?" I wondered as I turned to look at him.
To my utter shock, Lee had tears gushing out of his eyes. They streamed down his face like a rushing waterfall. His fists were clenched with conviction as he spoke to me. "[Y/n], it is my duty as a ninja to protect the people of this village!" He began. I arched an eyebrow in confusion. "Furthermore, as my friend, you are someone very dear to me who I wish to protect more than anything!"
"Well thank you but-?" I started to ask but I was quickly interrupted as Lee continued his speech. "Neji may be my teammate, but I can not allow him to treat you this way!" He practically shouted. People around us had started to stop and stare much to my humiliation. "We must go to Guy sensei at once. I have informed him of your current predicament and he has agreed to assist you. Guy sensei truly is the greatest man I know." Before I could protest or figure out what the fuck Lee was going on about, he had tossed me over his shoulders and took off sprinting through the village.
