Beauty and the Marquess, Eva, The Hastings. Book 1

Chapter 10

London town!

Before Hopping in the carriage one by one after having the most scrummy breakfast of toast, jam, fruit and yoghurt from the best England could make,crunchy cereal with cow's or goat's milk was poured on top the whole family talking non stop over breakfast.

The Hastings family have never had such a smorgasbord at a hotel before.

When they were home or a party thrown by their Aristocratic friends a smorgasbord spread was put on nothing as scrumptious shown by the high end pub tucked away from many out of towners except for carriages on the road towards London.

"Well done, exclaimed lady Harden to Mrs Pullen, you have one of the most decent establishment here we have ever come across out so far."

"We shall be back in a while for our second daughter" Lady Harden explained with friendly chit a chat.

Mrs Pullen was greatly relieved the family enjoyed the food costing them a small fortune to feed this family of 8 finally breathed out a sigh of relief she had been holding in since there arrival.

Alexander at breakfast read the morning paper sipping his English breakfast tea. There are other people sitting down for breakfast as well chatting happily to each other.

The Hasting family sit for a while at the table so the food goes down. They are stuffed full of good english food.

Having eaten so much the family feel rather sleepy and their bodies protest having to leave their comfortable chairs to the carriage awaiting them.

The older girls complain about having to leave for the long journey ahead Lady Harden is slightly green in the face her mind wandering away with memories of the day before journey.

The staff of the hotel put all the bag's on top of the carriage locking them in place.

Elisabetha lets the children hop in first Eva and Bonny clambering for a window seat, then Elisabetha really wanting the window her ashen skin tone worrying Alexander but Elisabetha brushes her health with a hand gesture "Nothing to worry about" so lord Harden climbs in fixing his body in a comfortable position.

Only a few more hours in this carriage and we will be in our Mayfair house lady Harden breaths out in relief to herself clenching her hands in anxiety her feeling about her health was scaring her and Alexander sweeping his blue eyes across her figure when he thought she wasn't watching little did he know Elisabetha was.

The kid's were happy to be travelling again with Eva and Bonny the only grumpy ones on board watching the day turn from morning to evening in a matter of hours.

Elisabetha turning her head towards Eva and Bonny clenches her teeth angrily until enough was enough "will you girl's please sit up straight and put a smile on your faces, Your not going to be put to death daughter."

Eva sent her mama a death stare "you might not think so mama but I feel like I'm going to my doom and you do not care"

In a hush tone Elisabetha answered back "you may think I do not care child but I do your my eldest child my first born, Your father and I are doing what all families are doing this year our daughters come out, you are beautiful and kind, please do not shed your good qualities for this girl we are becoming to see every minute now be quiet."

Bonny squirms in her seat uneasily "yes mama" Bonny heard her sister say reluctantly after hearing their mother admonish her in low tones.

Bonny didn't want to annoy her parents for the duration of the journey so closed her green eyes snuggling down.

Jessica and Natasha were reading a book so the boredom won't set in.

Harry and olli are again happy to see London having been to visit their grandmother the dowager countess their father's mother.

Alexander wishes that London was not so far away travelling with his large family was not his idea of paradise since all the war of words between his wife and two elder girls.

He almost had thrown up his hands in defeat but not quite.

For most of the ride Elisabetha pointed out to the younger children land marks lots of ooh's and ahhh's were heard from Harry and olli lips.

Elisabetha had started to feel better after Alexander gave her some peppermint tea her stomach had settled down for awhile and was able to enjoy the scenery with her two youngest.
