Oh my... I thought, chuckling softly. I don't have Atlas's phone number. I continued to think. I giggled lightly some more until I realised the trouble. "Shit! If he comes today...!" I hissed to myself, attempting not to draw attention from Effie, who was humming loudly under the shower beside my room. Iris please keep him home today! I pleaded silently, pressing my lips together in a thin line. A small bead of sweat rolled down the side of my face. "OK... Calm down Aaly." I gritted my teeth, my nervousness and stress turning my face a bright red. Maybe if Effie stayed in the shower for a few minutes more, Atlas hopefully would come by then and I can warn him before she emerges! I hastily thought, releasing the tension from my face. A few minutes had passes when Effie returned all shiny from the bathroom. Maybe he isn't coming today... I thought. He already had arrived at my house twice today. And thirds the charm... I thought, chuckling nervously. "You OK Aaly?" Effie asked, placing a firm hand on my shoulder. I smiled, shrugging at her before returning to look out the window. She followed my gaze, a confused expression on her face. It was dark outside, almost pitch black. The moon's shine was hidden behind the thick, heavy night clouds. "Girl, what are you looking at? There's nothing there?" Effie exclaimed, yawning. I turned to face her, shrugging once more; "Yeah, I guess you're right." I mumbled, trying to resist the frown forcing to make it's appearance. "What do you think's going to happen? Your Eugene coming to climb up through your window ready to save you?" Effie teased, punching my arm softly. I giggled, rolling my eyes. "I'm pretty sure that's not the proper story..." I sighed, taking a quick glance towards the window. Please be smart and not just barge in... I thought worriedly, clenching my jaw. It must've been noticeable, since Effie glared at me through the corner of my eye. She once again, punched my arm. And that's when the window suddenly opened, a great force of wind rushing through and into my room.
"W-WHAT'S THAT!" Effie cried out, crawling quickly towards me, her eyes on the dark, shadowy mist slipping through the door. YOU ABSOLUTE SHITHEAD! I thought immediately, gritting my teeth. Effie hung onto me, hiding her face with my shoulder. I gulped. Vapour looked at me with a startled expression, blinking five times a minute. I felt Effie cower against me. My arm wasn't wet, which was a good thing. I sighed and tapped Effie's head gently. "Effie, get up. We need to explain something to you..."
I glared at Vapour, who was still in his mist form and signalled him to float over in the corner, away from the frightened Effie. Effie sat up impatiently, sitting stiffly still against the wall beside my bed. I exhaled, pressing my hands into fists. "Alright, Effie. First off, this was part of the secret I had told Atlas in that empty classroom before, OK?" I started, crossing my arms over my chest. Effie hesitantly nodded, glancing over quickly into the corner towards Vapour, who was floating impatiently across the room. "What is that." Effie shuddered, rubbing her arms with her hands. Vapour quickly darted towards the window, shutting it and returning to his previous spot. "That, is Vapour. He's a creature made from a mix of shadowy smoke and mist, but mainly mist." I replied, chuckling with a sense of no humour. Effie frowned, furrowing her brows. "How does Atlas know about this?... Or actually, how does he get to be told, and not your best friend?" Effie muttered blandly. I chuckled again, this time with a hint of humour as I was trying to ease the tension. "Because, Atlas and Vapour share the same bodies." I concluded, leaning back. Effie blinked at me, her eyes wide with shock. I looked over towards Vapour, who had unnoticeably gotten closer to me and Effie. "Sorry, Vapour, but can you get into Atlas's body or something so you won't try and freak my friend out so much to the point of death?" I blurted suddenly, trying to make it seem like I was pleading. Vapour grunted, replying; "But he's had control all day!" he whined, his sweet, velvety voice surprising and confusing Effie next to me. "You heard her! Let me through~" Atlas's sultry voice spluttered, making the velvet voice sigh. I grinned as I watched Effie's expression, which was a mixture of being startled and confused. The room crowded with the dark smoke again, which made Effie look around frantically. I chuckled again, putting a hand on her leg. The fog cleared and Atlas, or Atlas's body was standing before us. Effie's mouth dropped open, blinking slowly. "Surprise...?" Atlas said nervously, shrugging as he did so. "So there are two people inside him, as in, there's that Vapour, misty dude and Atlas?!" Effie exclaimed, looking towards me with wide eyes. "Yes, Effie, there is." I retorted, standing up and walking over to Atlas. I hugged him, and turned back towards Effie. "You might be really confused or scared right now, so we'll give you a moment of uhh- silence." I muttered, smiling warmly down at Effie. I heard her gulp as her gaze casted down to the floor. After a moment or two, she looked up again, a grin spread wide on her face. "More like I'm permanently scarred now, huh." she chuckled, her shoulders bobbling. I giggled, the back of my head leaning against Atlas's sleek chest. A low rumble escaped Atlas's lips, he too chuckling. "And so, you did win her over then, eh." Effie sighed, raising her eyebrows and looking at the sheets. "Mhm. That means I've won the bet, Effie." Atlas replied, grinning slightly. I raised an eyebrow up, the corners of my mouth twitching before they finally rested tilting upward. I was going to ask what this bet was about, but instead I heavily fell to the floor. My body slammed again the ground, a painful shatter following behind. I looked down at my arm, which had definitely snapped. But it didn't hurt... I couldn't feel anything anymore. I really am sorry, Aaly... The velvet voice from before played from my head. I let myself go limp, me not controlling my muscles no longer. My body looked tense, but I was relaxing. I couldn't feel anything, and black patches circled my vision. I heard Effie cry out in shock, and Atlas already down by my side. I was shifting, and it was in front of Effie. I screamed out suddenly, not being able to control the weird play of pain surging through my body. Soon, my vision went completely black, and all my previous pains returned to me fully, covering my whole body in a sheet of blood, pain, and tears.
