It was another cool night, but I wasn't listening to the echoing drips in the cavern I had to now call home. Instead, I was sweeping noiselessly through the gum trees, the Australian creatures of the night making an appearance with their beady, glistening eyes. I stopped, opposite from the foot of the thick tree I perched on. The surroundings looked familiar, not in an eerily sensation though, but only a sensation that I could tell I couldn't feel for a long time. Ugh... You take too long. Can you hear bubbling sounds in the distance? Emit groaned impatiently. I sighed, my voice almost sounding ratchet, raspy even. Let me take control for once! I want to retrieve that crying girl! He hissed in return. My stomach tied in a knot, but for what reason? My vision slipped, and I could no longer feel anything. "I'll make it quick, don't worry~" Emit giggled aloud. I wanted to close my eyes, but I knew I couldn't. Emit swung past carefully, the crackling sound of the girl finally coming into my ears. It rung painfully, the same sensation building up again. Emit suddenly stopped, and dropped silently to the floor, prowling swiftly against it. And somehow, the frizzy-haired girl heard, snapping her head around to the place where Emit had dropped. My heart instantly stopped, if I had one anyways. Before my- no, Emit's eyes, was the girl herself. Effie... I choked in me and Emit's connected mind. Emit jerked forward, speedily lunging forward. And despite my commands, I threw myself into control, only an inch or two away from her panic-stricken face. "Y-You're... NO! YOU'RE ANOTHER ONE OF THEM!" she cried out, backing away as fast as she could. I stood there, watching Effie run off into the distance, towards the streets and her home. As soon as I lost sight of her, I turned to where she previously sat. It was a small, green-painted park bench, left alone with no park to be near. And on the old, wooden bench, etched two names. Dwayne + Effie.
