Chapter 9

CHAPTER 8 RECAP

Owen whispered to Maya; "Now run along to your family and rot in hell!"

He pushed Maya away and aimed the gun at her.

"Noooo! Maya, stay down!" Jack yelled and got up.

The gun cocked and Owen pulled the trigger.

"What the...!"

"Curse Russian roulette!"
Owen yelled.

Owen's gun got jammed.

Adam quickly jumped out through the window and landed on the balcony of the first floor.

Owen jumped out immediately too just before Jack could pick up his gun.

Luckily for Owen and Adam, the balcony was floored with rugs and foams.

Jack embraced Maya tightly and stroked her hair.

"I'm so sorry Jack" Maya sobbed.

"Are you okay?" Jack asked releasing the hug.

Maya nodded.

Jack got to the window and looked below.

He saw Owen leaped in and shut the door of a lorry, then it zoomed off.

"Oh dear... My son!" Mrs Rosa drew close to Jack and hugged him.

"Thank you so much. You have my blessings my child". Rosa kissed his forehead.

"I'm happy to see you agian". Morgan said hugging Maya.

Evelyn set-store-by a deck at a corner of the room.

"What is it Evelyn?" Jack walked to her.

"My cruel mother kept the secret about my father for years, now look how I've come to find out about it". Evelyn turned to Rosa.

"Twenty-two crazy years!" Evelyn walked closer to Rosa.

"What's happening?" Morgan asked.

"He looks like the villain to you, doesn't he?"

"Huh Mom?" Evelyn grasped Rosa's shoulders.

Mrs Rosa wept.

"Evelyn! Wh..."

"Stay out of this Jack!" Evelyn interrupted.

"This is a family matter.. And you are not family". Evelyn added.

"Evelyn stop!" Maya yelled.

"You know you seem to be one of a problem around here".

"I never liked you Jack".
"You're beginning to get on my nerves... do not push me!" Evelyn sterned.

"Back to you mother... Because you always nagged... nagging wife, nagging mother!"

"You never let father did what made him happy and both of you.. Not both of you... Just you...! left me in darkness for decades".
Evelyn altercated immensely.

While Evelyn kept wrangling Maya felt incomprehensive to some things she said.

"You know what? I'm done with this family!" Evelyn walked away.

Maya held her mother close. Rosa wept on Maya.

"Ma..."

"Don't!" Jack interrupted Morgan.

"Let them have their moment, we can inquire later". Jack whispered.

Jack turned to the deck and examined the papers on it.
