Imagine: you're an avenger but nobody really acknowledges you, besides the team of course. You usually don't mind. Then you save a lot of people, nobody cares.

'Good job team!, special thanks to y/n for doing like 99 percent of the work..' Tony lands next to you and you chuckle while clutching your side.

'Thank you very much... about time someone acknowledges how much of the work I actually do..'

'You okay there doll?' Steve asks and you nod while you shift from foot to foot. 'Just a small cut, should heal in a few minutes...'

He wraps his arm around you and pulls you close before putting a kiss on your head.

You groan out when you feel the wound closing up again, that's kind of your main power, healing incredibly fast. It's not the only power you have, but it's the one you're known for. Well, known for is a big word.

You're not known for anything in the media because you basically don't exist, not because you don't want to, but just because they completely ignore you.

It didn't bug you as much in the beginning, but now, since you saved New York more than once, it's starting to get to you.

You always see news reporters running to the others, kids too. Everyone is interested in them while you stand there. The only time they're interested in you is when they want to know what Steve is like in bed. Since he's your boyfriend. But you're never acknowledged as a fellow avenger.

Steve always tries his best to get you involved, but always fails. Even with the kids, he tries to make them go to you, but of course they're more interested in Captain America than little old y/n...

'You did amazing, we would've lost if it wasn't for you...'

'I know...' you laugh.

Your happiness however is short lived, the reporters of various news channels have arrived and so have a couple of kids.

You can hear the kids, you see the news people walking over to everyone, and for a moment you think a couple people will interview you. But it's like they don't even see you.

You get shoved aside while they interview Steve and he just lets it happen, he doesn't even notice until he can see you walking away in the distance.

'Y/n!' He yells at you.

You don't turn around, you don't stop walking, you're done. With those stupid news people, you're done with Steve. You're done with everything at the moment.

You glance back at the reporters and the kids crowding around the team. You watch how amazed the kids are and you feel a pang in your chest.

You feel the tears welling up in your eyes as you look away. And Steve can see how hurt his girl is. He knows that look. You rarely give him that look but when you do he knows you're hurt, and not in the physical way.

'Stupid team... stupid reporters... stupid New York!' You yell out as you throw another rock at the ruins of what used to be a really old building. You wipe away a fresh wave of tears.
