Chapter 16: The Battle Against Flame And Gravity

"Come down here and you'll find out."

I could feel the heat surge throughout my body. The feeling is similar to as if someone has just flicked on the sparker for the stove.

"Bold words. I'll hold you to it!"

The floor beneath begins to shake following along a loud grumble.

"Addeline get back!"

I suddenly feel lighter.

What the heck?

I realise my shoes are not in contact with the ground anymore.

Anti-gravity? Just like the one in my old training, but this feels much stronger. This guy can't be one of us. Can he?

"Adds!" Caine starts to run towards me.

"Stay back! I have a plan."

Sebastion starts to kick several rocks in my direction.

I concentrate the energy into my feet and try to maneuver myself out of the way.

I manage to dodge two of the rocks, but the third rock is too close for me to safely move away.

If this hits me, I might have to go to the hospital again.

Before the rock reaches me, it explodes at a safe distance.

I turn behind me to see Edward extending his hand out.

"Let me help you!"

I nod my head and turn to face the mysterious figure.

"Three asteroids and I still have the upper-hand? I expected so much from you guys."

Suddenly a bigger area of the surface of the ground beneath us starts to shake.

Shit! He's going after them!

"Get out-"

Suddenly a wave of rocks heads directly towards me.

He baited his powers on innocent people to make me lose focus? This guy...

I focus a strong concentration towards both my palms. A burst of flames annihilates the rocks, but some shattered parts strike part of my body.

Suddenly I feel heavier and I fall back to the ground.

"What the hell are these flames?"

I got off the floor.

My ability must have landed a direct hit, but only just touching his shoulder.

I could see that part of his clothing is ripped and there is black charcoal dust covering it.

"Enough of this bullshit!"
