Chapter 19: Sickbay Crisis

"I would never get angry at my dear sister."

I push my concentration to my hands and flames burst through, lighting up the room.

"Oh? Do you want to fight in school? Is that why you purposely lied to your brother. Just to get me to come out?"

Why is there another personality in Caine? This has got to do with the incident five months ago.

"Was I that obvious?" I snark at him.

Caine starts to emit the same shadow-like waves around him.

"You know, you have quite a strong shadow attached to you."

There's a shadow attached to me? Caine said the same thing when he told me at the burger joint.

"Enough stalling. I'm going to beat you out of Caine."

Caine only smiles back.

But suddenly someone swings open the door. The flame from my hand disappears.

"I found you!"

Maya runs up to me and pulls me into a warm hug.

"We need to go eat at the burger joint again today!"

I turn my head over to Caine who also dissipated the shadows around him.

"Maya..."

Maya turns to Caine and lets go of me.

"Oh! I didn't see you there Caine! Want to join us for burgers?"

Caine stays mute.

"Caine, you good?"

I had to pretend this guy is the real Caine, he didn't show his abilities which would mean that he wants to hide them.

"I thought I'd never see you again."

Caine mutters under his breath.

The way he smiles is different from before. It seems like a more genuine smile.

"Sorry, I just haven't seen you in a long time. But I need you to forget that you talked to me."

Maya tilts her head.

"What?"

Caine's eyes start to glow.

¿Forget that you saw me today. Leave this room and continue your day as normal¿

I cover my eyes and turn away from Caine.

He's doing the same thing that he did to me on Maya.

Maya's eyes start to gloom over.

Maya walks out of the room.

"You didn't enjoy our guest?"

Caine sits on the ground.

"What am I doing? I should be out there with the others."

The thing controlling Caine looks at me.

"You can have your brother back. Seeing Maya really set off my mood to fight."

Caine collapses onto the floor and lays there unconscious.

So this other Caine isn't some evil, twisted villain? Now I really have to know what happened five months ago.

Caine shoots up from his slumber and breaths loudly.
