Idiot is the only word I can use to describe myself. The amount of drinks I had that night made me ruin the moment I was having with Sunny by calling her by Sarah's name. I was grateful when her friend Clara showed up with the most impeccable timing and saved me from further embarrassing myself. I didn't blame Sunny from walking away and leaving me sulking in the sand.

I chalked my actions up to my drunkenness. I convinced myself Sunny was a random girl I hooked up with at a party. It's what I wanted for this summer. But that didn't stop me from being slightly disappointed when I didn't see her out and about while hanging out with Levi and a few other friends from town. Knowing she was part of Levi's friend group, I assumed she would be at the dinner we went out to a few days later, or the small bonfire Levi had after that. I even assumed I would run into her randomly on the beach with my parents. But Sunny was nowhere to be found. Was she a figment of my imagination?

She couldn't have been. I remember the way the neon pink light shined off her golden skin. The way the light looked better on her than anyone else in that house. The way she opened her mouth as wide as possible when she was laughing. I made her laugh a lot that night. Most of all, I know how real that kiss felt, the way my hands roamed on their own, feeling every inch I could possibly feel. There was no way I made that up.

Someone who was around during my outings around town was Rose. She was at the dinner Levi put together, she was also at his bonfire, and I ran into her while going for a jog. At the party, Rose and I flirted for a bit until Sunny stole my attention for the night. But being around Rose those few times reminded me of my initial interaction with her.

While out during dinner, I caught her looking and smiling at me. I couldn't help but do the same. She's a pretty girl with admirable features. Great hair, eyes, lips, body. I would be out of my mind to not give this girl the time of day. At Levi's bonfire, she sat with me. Without the drugs and binge drinking from our first meeting at the party, Rose and I were able to talk, getting to know each other, and exchanging phone numbers. After a few days and late nights of texting each other, I asked her out to dinner with the hopes of getting to know her a little bit better.

We made plans at a restaurant in the center of Albright for Tuesday night, almost two weeks since the first time we met at Levi's house. Calling this a date would put me in a situation I didn't want to be in so labeling it a dinner hang out is what kept me calm. I parked a few streets away from the restaurant. It was a busy evening in Albright. Lots of families, locals, and out of towners were out enjoying the town.

I didn't mind having to walk a bit before arriving at the restaurant. The evening was warm with a slight breeze coming from the ocean. Walking through Albright brought back a lot of memories from my childhood. I took my time during my walk, making sure to take in everything around me. Scoop's Ice Cream Parlor was still there, a new pink-themed restaurant that seemed to be a magnet for Instagram influencers to post photos of, kids longboarding and skateboarding in the alleys between the buildings, and Sunny cutting a dog's hair.
