A slick, wet feeling on my hand brought my back to consciousness. The headache was evident before I even opened my eyes. It was confirmed when my eyelids fluttered open and the bright sun emphasized the flaring pain in my temples. I looked over to my hand and saw a small black dog licking my fingers that were draped over a body. What the fuck happened last night?
I leaned up on the bed, slowly moving my arm away from the body next to me, my headache not making it any easier. I looked over to the body, which was turned away from me, and saw a head full of long brown hair and a white blanket draped over radiant golden skin. It can't be. Trying my best to not make sudden movements, I leaned over to get a peek at the face of the person I woke up in bed with, my heart racing, wondering whether my suspicions were true.
"Whoa..." I breathed out as Sunny's sleeping face came into view.
I laid on my back, running my fingers through my hair. I tried my best to piece the evening together but most of my memories were flashes of random memories. I turned to look at the back of Sunny's head once more. Did we hook up? The possibility of that made me smile. Sitting up in the bed, I looked around the bright, airy room. This was definitely Sunny's room. It was just so...her.
I caught a glimpse of my pants on the floor next to the bed. I reached over and breathed a sigh of relief when my phone was still perfectly intact in the front pocket. I sat on the side of the bed, scrolling through my phone, looking at the notifications. A text from Rose stood out.
Rose 9:36am: I know we left things on a bad note last night, but are we still getting lunch today?
I checked the time at the top of my phone screen; 10:02am. I looked back at Sunny in bed. I stared for abit, wondering if I should wake her up, should I say goodbye? I decided against it when I remembered how I get when I have too much to drink. The fact that she had to deal with me like that, is enough to convince me to just let her rest. I moved around her room quietly, slipping my pants on and pulling my shirt over my head.
"Why do you always call me Sarah?"
The sound of Sunny's sleepy morning voice sent a wave of cold through my body. I turned around to find her lying in bed, looking at me. Her bed head hair somehow looked even better than when it's all done up. Her skin glowing while the sun beams danced all around her. How lucky of me to be able to see her like this.
I smiled at her, but didn't move. I wasn't too confident on how to act with Sunny in this moment. With no memory of last night, I didn't know what side of me Sunny would be comfortable with. I put my hands in my pockets and looked at her as she sat up and threw her hair into a loose bun on the top of her head. The sight of her exposed neck brought up a flash back of last night...my lips dangerously close to her.
"What happened last night?" I tried to joke. I was trying to act nonchalant about it but still hoping I didn't make a fool out of myself in front of Sunny.
