.I couldn't do it... asking Jimin on that date was hard enough, but talking to my boss about it was going way too far. It was Jin's idea, yet I didn't feel as if I had it in me to go along with it. I was pacing outside of his private office's door, having already finished my work for the next two days or so... but that was usual, as I always overworked and took on bigger amounts than most others would.
Anyway, while nervously prancing around, waiting for what I felt like was the right moment to knock, Hosoek himself opened the door, stopping abruptly when he noticed me just outside and not where I usually was in my seat by my own desk.
"Min, is there anything I can do for you? Are you not feeling well?" he asked and I waved my hands at his kind words, letting my gaze fall to the floor, "No, no mister Jung, I was just wondering whether I could get... I know it might not be possible and I'll just cancel if there isn't time, seeing as I'm saying this so short in advance I wouldn't be shocked if I won't be able to, I fully understand if-" my rambling was cut short when I felt a calm hand placed on my shoulder, my boss kindly looking into my eyes, before saying "Take a deep breath, then start over" and I nodded, doing as he said.
One deep inhale, an even longer exhale, thereafter glancing up into his eyes a bit more confidently, he was a person who I was able to be myself with, so why was I truly so nervous in the first place? It wasn't as if he'd fire me, I knew that even though I wasn't the most sociable of butterflies, I was still an asset.
"Mister Jung, I'd appreciate it if I got the afternoon off this Friday, if that's alright with you?" I finally inquired and he smiled broadly, almost looking proud of me and he nodded happily.
"Of course Min, albeit you could even have taken the whole day off if you wanted to" he admitted, trailing off towards the end and I chuckled at his confession, making him laugh along with me, both of us happily walking over to the coffee machine that stood right next to the entrance.
The whole day seemed to be going great, because that very afternoon, I finally settled on a time with a meeting with the CEO of VERTU, one of the biggest giants in the corporate world. I had already been able to talk them into it a few weeks earlier, but at that time, I never had the opportunity to write down an actual date, now I could proudly be taking the afternoon off the upcoming Friday, as I had managed to do something very positive for the company.
As I was about to stand up from my seat, about to take my leave for the evening, I saw my boss walking down the long hallway, his presence, like always, taking up all the space, which was one of his many talents. He was walking with long striding steps, his fitted suit would've made him look incredibly intimidating if it wasn't for the fact that I knew him to be a very kind person.
"Min, you seriously need to start going home earlier, I always find you here at such late times" he nicely argued and I just waved my hand at his words, with a large smile on my face, still giddy about the news that I had yet to spill to him.
"Yeah, yeah, anyway" I dismissed the comment and instead readied myself to tell him.
"Mister Jung, I finally nailed down a date for your meeting with VERTU" I stated, unable to keep the large grin from settling on my lips and soon I had a mirrored expression in front of me. His eyes scrunched up happily as he stared at me with a shocked and very relieved posture.
"Oh thank you!" he exclaimed, suddenly hugging me out of pure glee, but I couldn't find it in me to push him away, it was a joyous occasion for both of us and I could understand the feelings that he must've felt when finally getting the good news.
"We'll have to celebrate at some point" he mumbled out and I chuckled lightly at his giddiness, but nodded along nonetheless, agreeing with him completely. It truly was a momentous thing. Usually we had the upper hand in most meetings, seeing as Jung was also a very large name in the world of business, but practically nothing compared to VERTU's size... they owned so many things, brands and such that you wouldn't even think to be under their name, but the company had many brands that stemmed from them and so one wouldn't necessarily link it back to them at first glance.
"Min Yoongi, you are the best co-worker any person could ever have" mister Jung sang happily as he basically twirled around and I giggled at his childishness, shaking my head at his antics, before both of us settled down, regaining the professional aura and the wave of the hour finally hit us both again, almost at the same time. The two of us simultaneously glanced at the clock that hung up on the wall and nodded to each other.
"We should head home" he voiced our shared thought and I hummed in agreement.
"Yeah, it's getting a bit late" I commented and he raised a brow at my statement "A bit? It's midnight... what on earth would you consider to be late late?" he laughed out loud and I shrugged, not really able to answer the question.
