He punched me. I couldn't believe Jack actually punched me. He always seemed so collected and calm. When it comes down to it none of us are, who we really say we are. My dad had already retreated. I found him standing next to my car.

'Why did you let her escape!' he yelled immediately after he saw me. I wanted to tell him this was not the time or the place to go into this, but I've just had it. He always expected me to be perfect, to do his bidding no questions asked. But I was done with it. I was done with not being respected, for being used because of my power.

'Why the fuck do you care.' I said coldly.

'You know why!' he yelled completely unaware of the state I was in. But I was already bracing for his outlash, I could feel it close. He always got like this, ready to give me a beating as soon as I acted even slightly out of place. And since nothing was ever good enough I've had to deal with a lot of shit. After tonight, after what he did to her I've had enough. I was already stupid enough to think I could save her, I was not stupid enough to stay on his side.

'Get out of my way.' I told him, ready to reach around to get in the car.

'Do you still not understand!? Have I still not gotten through to your stupid little head?!' he yelled.

'No dad, you haven't! So please, do enlighten me!' I yelled back at him. The surprise was quite evidently present on his face. I haven't dared to stand up to him for six long years, he probably didn't expect this.

'You got attached to your target. She died at the wrong time.' he told me, once again critizing everything I did.

'She shouldn't have died to begin with!' I yelled, completely frustrated. This had to stop. I couldn't go along with it any longer. 'You always go on and on and on about this stupid power that you don't even realise what you're doing in the process!'

'I always do what I have to do. I've told you that a million times before!'

'No. I don't think that's true.'

'Well, listen here you little shit-'

'I'm done listening to you! Everything you've ever told me was total bullshit! And because of you I almost went along with killing an innocent girl! She was seventeen for fuck's sake. Why can't you see that's wrong!?'

'So we're back to you behaving this way.' he said, suddenly all calm. 'I thought we were over this, but I can easily go back to treating you as a child if you want.'

'Are you fucking kidding me!?' I yelled back at him. At this point I was pretty much ready to punch him. 'Of course to you I'm just a tool you can use to gather more information!'

'A useless piece of shit you mean. I see you still haven't learned your place.' he continued talking so calmly, I was pretty sure none of my words were even getting through to him.

'No!' I still continued to yell. 'I'm not yours to use anymore, and I'm not yours to put in place.'

'You're joking. You're mine!'

'No, dad.' I said, clenching my jaw. I was determined to go through with it. 'I won't put up with you anymore.'

'You put up with me!?' His voice came out filled with disgust and accompanied by a filthy, crazy laugh. 'You don't know what I've done for you, boy. Learn some respect! Or should I beat it into you?'

'Shut up!' I yelled. I didn't want to hear his ridiculous words anymore. I wanted it to stop, I wanted him to stop it. This isn't how a father is supposed to act. His face seemed almost shocked as if he could not believe that I was actually saying these things. 'I'm going to leave.'
