The nerve of this guy is incredible. How could he even suggest Magnus is a good guy? I almost just want to punch some sense into him, but I don't. I don't think Alex would be too happy with that.

'What do you mean?' she asks with a soft confused voice. From her face I can tell she's trying to make sense of it.

'No!' Ace intervenes. 'No, he's the worst.' He says with a nervous laugh. What the hell? If there's something that sounds suspicious it's Ace quickly intervening in something. He's always been the quiet one. I'm guessing my dad sent him with us to keep an eye on me.

I can't believe my dad would do that. I'm not a little kid anymore, yet he's still keeping secrets from me. He's planning something I know that much and I'm going to find out what. But for now I stay quiet, curious to see what else is going to be said.

'Nothing. Nevermind.' Jack says. He ignores Ace and answers the question. 'It was a stupid suggestion to make.' What is this guy hiding? His frown and immediate takeback of his question are enough to suspect something.

I almost ask him what it is he is hiding, but in the end decide it's better to confront my dad first. He has enough to explain for now.

'Okay.' Alex says. She looks extremely tired and done for the day, but I know she's too polite to say anything about it. I admire her for it, she's had a really tough day. Not many people can experience dying and keep it together like that.

Jack is continuously nodding at her answer, furthermore making me wonder what he's hiding. 'Maybe it's time to part ways. It's been a long day after all.' he says. Alex nods, agreeing with him.  It's her subtle way of making known that she wants to get out of here. I don't blame her to be honest.

'Yeah, sure. Ace and I have to go back to see my dad tomorrow.' I say. After the vision I knew I had to go, to confront my dad about it. I take in a breath to add something, but Ace interrupts me before I can.

'We are?' he asks with a confused look on his face. Way to go man, might as well hang a neon sign above our heads with: We're hiding something!

'Yes. Yes, we're going back.' I answer him, my irritation showing through slightly more than I intended. So I do my best to present myself as calm again. I don't know why I always do that, but I've been doing it for so long it has kind of become instinct. 'You can just go to school tomorrow, if you want. You could try to find out more about the sword. I'll send you a picture of it.' I add, so they know what they can do.

Alex nods again, this time directed towards me. She looks sad somehow and unsure. It just makes me want to walk over to her and give her a hug. 'When will we see you again?' she asks, the sadness showing through in her voice. Contrary to me she does nothing to hide her emotions.

I don't really want to be apart from her, but I know that I have to go. 'We'll be back in a couple of days. I'll come find you then.' I tell her, so that she knows I'm not leaving her for good. She nods again, making me wonder just how tired she is.

She's always made remarks at everything and wants to make sure people know her opinion and side of things. To have her just nodding is kind of weird to see.

'Alright. Bye, then.' Jack says and he rushes towards the door. Why is he suddenly in a hurry to get out of here? I don't like this. For a second I consider just keeping Alex with me so I can protect her at all times. But I know she wouldn't like it and she seems to trust him a lot.

She gives me an apologetic look while following him. I nod and smile at her, so she knows it's okay. Or at least that it's going to be okay. She returns the gesture, but there's a tiredness and sadness to the smile. The small gesture alone seems to have cost a lot of energy and it weirdly makes my heart warm.
