chap 8

" Well... I'm not sure about there being any pests, but I don't want to be late. "

Kael bowed slightly as he held her hand to guide her to the car. Yuna let him as she already grew tired of reminding Kael that even though she was blind...she could still sense her surroundings.

" What got you so excited, my lady? "

Kael didn't bother to hide the bitterness in his tone and was confused where this nasty feeling was coming from. Yuna grinned back at him as he saw how the mana around her glowed brightly, as if reflecting her good mood.

The past 3 years passed by so fast that Kael was tempted to just manipulate the time to fast forward everything. Yuna didn't do anything significant besides growing up with a temper and forgetting that he's a demon that was going to eat her soul. She seemed casual and at ease around him well...casual enough when he wasn't touching her neck.

Perhaps he gave her quite the scare last year when she slapped his arm due to embarrassment, and he overreacted by detailing how he could easily kill her with a hand around her neck. Perhaps it was because of his mana that made her afraid of him more than her usual self, but it made him feel unpleasant.

After that incident, she grew distant towards him before he apologized. He felt a bit hurt when she stopped glowing as she did now.

The mana around her just seemed to love her and it just clung to her so much. He eyed the golden wisp of her mana twirl around her cheek before it retreated when he glared at it.

He grabbed her hand and intertwined them together. Relishing at the sight of the excess mana leaving her alone and he could finally see her black hair with no touches of golden mana. Whenever he was in contact with her, the clingy mana just dissipates and leaves her alone.

Right, those pests should know their place.

He held a smug grin before it fell when he saw Yuna raise an eyebrow at his behavior.

" What? "

" You're acting weird since this morning. " Yuna pointed out as Kael reflected on what he did. He just gave her a present to let unwanted pests away. Besides he was doing all of this just to keep the mana away and to keep her alive. Alive to entertain him and he still needed to make her see the world more to make her soul mature better.

He raised his right hand to trace the pendant on her necklace. He felt her flinch and stiffen when he did so. This time he didn't pay it any heed as he poured a bit of mana. This was a countermeasure of when he wasn't around.

Why was he worrying so much?
