Warning: swears. Not very many, but scattered around and the bad ones. 😂

Emily's POV:

"I'm trying to help you," Steve mumbles. I stare at him, I can feel my hatred for this boy growing stronger by the minute.

"Why?" I demand. "I'm fine, Steve, I don't need your help," I tell him.

"Yes you do, Emily. I know you," He says. No he doesn't. I'm just some annoying tag along to him. His friends annoying little sister, his best friends stupid friend that he wasted his time to hang out with to make his friend happy. In what would does he "know" me at all? I take time away from him hanging out with the people he wants to. Why would he care about me?

"You know nothing about me," I say, standing up. Steve just sighs.

"Emily, where are you going?" He asks. Why does it matter? Why does he care? I mumble something I can barely understand myself and run off into the darkness. I don't know where I'm going, just away. It doesn't matter anyways, I thought at first. Only, when I accidentally made it into the Soc part of town and I saw a blue mustang trailing me, it did matter. Except, I didn't do anything. I just stopped walking. A few guys that I couldn't see too well got out of the car.

"Hey grease," He says. He can't see it, but I just roll my eyes.

"Answer me when I'm talking to you!" He demands. I take a deep breath.

"I'm not in the mood for your shit. Leave me alone," I say, totally unafraid. On any other day I'd probably be in a total panic, but today is different for some reason.

"Don't talk back, you little bitch," He says, tackling me. I just sigh as I vaguely see someone hand the guy a switchblade.

"Go ahead. Just kill me," I tell him. It's not like I want to be here, anyways. He laughs.

"Nah, that would be too easy. I'm going to make you suffer." So I don't suffer enough already? He takes the switchblade. And runs it across my skin. Hot tears prickle in my eyes.

"Stop," I say, quietly, and not forcefully. The stupid guy just laughs.

"Awe, but we're having so much fun, aren't we, guys?" The guy sitting on top of me says. The guys nod. Now it does matter. They're really hurting me.

"Stop, now!" I yell.

"And if I don't?" I hear.

"Then I'll... I'll get my gang to come after you guys," I threaten. It was a stupid thing to say, obviously they would anyways, if they could find me. But I'm in Soc town now. How would the find me? A scary thought occurred to me: What if he hurts me so bad I can't move? What if the guys never find me? What if I die here? Suddenly, I feel the urge to start screaming. I can't fight it anymore, I'm too scared. I start screaming.

"Shut her up!" One guy yells. But it's too late. I already see a group of guys running up.

"Help!" I shout, and a dirty rag is stuffed in my mouth. I try to yell for help again but it just ends up with me gagging. Then, I start coughing. I feel something coming up. Oh god, not here, not now... Please? The guy makes another cut into my neck, and more tears stream down my face.

"You think you're so tuff but now you're crying?" He laughs at me. I cough again, trying not to gag.

Suddenly I hear a yell saying "Let her go!" I look up and see the gang. Thank god. I see Darry, and Steve taking on the guys and Two-Bit running over to me. Like always, Pony's standing in the background doing nothing.

Now that the guy isn't sitting on top of me anymore, I sit up and take the rag out of my mouth, gagging once again. Two-Bit sits down, rubs my back, and holds my hair, thinking I'm actually going to be sick. I'm not, though.
Instead I take a deep breath, and end up sobbing.

My big brother pulls me into his arms, just as I hear someone scream, "If you EVER come near her again we are going to have a problem, DO YOU HEAR ME? Stay the fu¢k away from her!" It's Steve. Why Steve? I still don't understand. After the Socs leave, probably because they're scared of what else Darry can do, the two boys run over to me.

"Emily, are you ok?" Steve asks. I just nod.

"Are you hurt, Em?" Darry asks. Again, I nod.

"Let's get you back to the car, and then we can clean you up back home, ok?" He asks. His voice is calm and soothing, like he's talking to a wounded puppy, not a recently jumped teenage girl. I give him a weak smile and wipe my tears as my brother and I hop into the back of the truck.

"Emmi, how did this happen?" Two-Bit asks me. I shrug.

"I was just... walking and some guys found me," I tell him. Steve whips around from his spot in the drivers seat.

"Well maybe you shouldn't have ditched me. If you hadn't have been such a little brat I could have made sure this didn't happen," He snaps at me. Sometimes I really just don't understand that kid. One minute his voice is soft and calm and he's telling me he wants to help me, and the next he's yelling at me.

"Just shut up already," I mumble. Steve really doesn't have a place here anymore, now that Soda's gone. He was Soda's best friend, and he was the only person ever willing to put up with Steve's $hit.

"You can't tell me what to do, Emily," He says. Did I ever say I could? I don't think so. I want to say something, but I can't think of anything good, and Two steps in for me.

"Just be quiet for a little while, Steve. The kid just got jumped for crying out loud. Give her some sympathy." I smile and rest my head on his shoulder. Finally we get back to the Curtis house.

"Hey, Emily. Can I talk to you for a sec?" Steve asks me, holding Ponyboy and Soda's door open so we can be alone. I follow him in.

"What, Steve?" I demand. He sits on the floor and I sit next to him. It reminds me of when Soda found out his parents were dead. He called me, not Sandy, and the two of us spent hours sitting on the floor, crying, laughing, reliving old memories, and just enjoying each other's company while trying not to think about the fact that neither of us have parents left.

"You make me smile when no one else can. You really make me feel better. Thank you, Em," Soda had said, leaning over to hug me, after we had finished up. The exact same words he said to me after I helped him through his breakup with Sandy, I had heard them a lot. But now I'm in a room with his best friend, reliving those old memories in my mind as his best friend confesses his love for me. Yeah, his love.

"What, Steve?" I demand. I don't want to be in here. Not here, not now, not at all.

"I uh... Just gotta tell you something. I love you, Emily Mathews. I'm in love with you and I have been for years. I was going to ask you to be my girl, but I couldn't find any special way, so I just had to tell you like this. So... Will you?" He asks.

And for some reason, I lean over and kiss my boyfriends best friend, almost a perfect way of saying, "Yes, I'll be your girl."

A/N: That was literally the worlds worst chapter ever, but at least I updated, right? I was trying to get Emily and Two-Bit's relationship because I find it absolutely adorable and stuff. Tell me what you thought and I'll try to update soon!
