"Goodnight, lovey. I'll see you in the morning". Niall kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I smile, resting my head upon his chest. We lay there in silence, until I start nodding off to sleep.

I open my eyes and find myself in a small house, snow falling down around it. Confused, I walk inside to explore. Oddly enough, it seems very familiar. I hear laughter coming from the hallway, and I turn to look. A little brunette girl climbs on to the couch, crawling on top of the woman sitting there. The woman, I quickly realize, is my mother. I run up to her and give her a bear hug, but she does nothing. Unfazed, she goes back to what she was doing. Maybe she can't see or hear me? I assume this is a dream, and I'm just imagining this. I wipe my eyes and go back to observing my mother. She strokes her fingers through the smaller girl's curly locks, and calls over the rest of her children. My sisters! That must mean the little girl is me. Little Jenna's face lights up when her siblings walk into the room and plop down next to her. One of them starts to tickle her, resulting in lots of raspberries being blown in her direction.

"Genevieve! What did I say about spitting at your sisters? Calm down now, Mummy has something to tell you girls". We all look up to her with bright eyes, anticipating what she will say next.

"Soon, you girls are going to have a little brother!" All the other kids applaud and giggle with happiness except for the smallest. She crosses her arms and pouts her lips. I remember this. I was so angry about getting a brother when I was supposed to be the baby who gets all the attention. Besides, a boy? The only boy I liked was Niall, and even at that age I was still pretty convinced he had cooties.

"Can we trade him in for a puppy instead?" I laugh, now knowing why everybody always said I was the talk of the town. With an attitude like that, it's hard not to take the spotlight.

I blink, and it's all gone. Instead, I'm in a new place. The same town, but on a porch. I look to my right and see a blue eyed boy eating a popsicle. I take a seat next to him, listening to his conversation with little me on the left.

"A brother?" , he asks. I nod, looking like a deer in headlights.

"I don't want a brother! Boys are stinky!" I take notice to the offended look on the boy's face.

"Hey!"

"Sorry Niall, you're still my best friend" She hugs him, and I smile. We were so innocent as kids. What happened?

I blink again, finding myself in a new place. It's all dark, and I can't see a thing. I move my arms around, hoping to find something. I do, and it grunts.

"Hey, what was that for?"

I open my eyes and realize I'm back in my own bed, safe and sound. I shake my head, confused from the dream but happy it's over.

"Sorry love, had a weird dream. I'll tell you about it in the morning, it still seems pretty dark out. What time is it?" I roll over to look at my clock, which reads 1:32 AM. I sigh, placing my head on his chest once more and drifting back into a hibernation.

My phone vibrates non-stop as I groan and get up from the warmth of my bed.

Mom - 3 Missed Calls

Shit. I unlock it and call her back, hoping she'll answer.

"Genevieve, I called you three times and you didn't answer once. It's 11:00 AM, shouldn't you be awake by now?" I looked over to my alarm clock. She was right, it was nearly noon already and I had just gotten out of bed. Not to mention the snoring man under the covers, still dozing off without any plans to wake up anytime soon.
