6 - The Masquerade Dance - Part 1

The next few days went by fairly quickly since everyone was excited about the upcoming event that takes place tomorrow. I have everything ready for tomorrow including my costume and mask since it is a masquerade. I smile as I place everything in a separate bag. Tonight I’m staying at Ryan and Skye’s house with Sheila and Carlos since we won’t be seeing anyone that day due to practicing and others things. I’m just surprised the school is letting us play as long as it stays clean of course. I just hope things go well and everyone has fun tonight since the school said there will be a surprise during the dance. Right now I’m just laying on my bed thinking about everything like always. When Angel comes in my room “hey Sam, are you ready for tomorrows dance?” I can see she’s excited about it I wonder what she is going to wear. “Actually I am. I can’t wait!” I said cheerfully and she giggled and then smirked. “Do you have a date?” Now that caught me of guard and I just shook my head no. honestly I doubt anyone would ask me. “Hmm… Really? I thought he was going to ask you?” she said more to herself than me. I looked at her with my head tilted slightly. “What are you talking about?” She just shook her head and said nothing since the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it!” and she ran out of my room. My eyebrow lifted and I followed her to see that Reiji and Subaru were here. “Oh hey guys! Why are you two here so late?” They both said hello and said they came to visit since the others were out and about. “Angel can you help me with making some drinks in the kitchen?” Reiji asks as he leads her to the kitchen. She smirked “sure my love!” I again lifted my eyebrow at this since I knew they were up to something. “Subaru, do you know what’s going on?” I turn to him and see he is blushing a bit and I become more curious. “Actually I do… They both know something I’ve been trying to do the past few days but yeah... It didn’t happen so I’m doing it now… Sam, will you go to the dance with me?” he says nervously and my face turned bright red. This… I was not expecting at all. I mean I thought he had a date already at least that’s what I thought. I noticed him still waiting for an answer and I smile and kiss his cheek. “I’d love to Subu, but I will have to meet you there since I have to help with the dance and decorations. Okay?” He smiled but still had a noticeable pink dust on his cheeks. “Got it but how will I know it’s you?” I giggled “don’t worry you’ll know.” I said as I winked at him all he did was chuckle and nodded. Just then my lovely cousin and her lover boy came out of the kitchen with some drinks and snacks. “Lets watch some movies!” Subaru and I nodded and we all sat on the floor around the coffee table. It was close to 11 ‘o’ clock at night when the guys left. I just yawned and told Angel I needed to get my ass to Ryan and Skye’s. I know their asses are still up and the others as well. I grabbed my stuff and headed towards their house after saying good bye to Angel. Once I was there I called Skye to let him know, so he could open the door.

Subaru POV
The ride home was only about twenty minutes and was silent so it seemed to last longer. Honestly I’m use to it since talking with my brothers is kind of annoying. I’m just glad I asked her to the dance tomorrow. I smile knowing she will be with me all night. “Considering you’re smiling to yourself I’m assuming Sam said yes.” I look outside the window uttering a yes to the question I was asked. I then heard a chuckle and I got a bit mad. “Why the hell are you laughing?” Again he chuckles “no reason in particular, just wondering how two certain people are going to react, not to mention the girls you rejected.” I scowl knowing full well who he is talking about. “One has a girlfriend and the other has a date due to peer pressure by said girls and those girls are annoying as hell.” I looked to the left with the corner of my eye and saw him smirking. “So you decided to ask Sam, knowing full well those two have hidden feelings for her; at least I think so.” I glared at my brother. “You honestly think Shuu has feelings for Sam? He’s with a girl that hates her and you know it Reiji. He on the other has no idea due to Monica playing the sweet and innocent card and thinks her and Sam are friends when they aren’t. As for Azusa I know he does but I don’t really care.” Reiji just stared at me and showed no expression. “I guess you have a point” he said and continued to drive. Great; now I’m pissed and feel like hitting something or someone. Once we got home I went straight to my room, I also noticed the others were home but I just ignored them like always.

~Next Day: Regular POV~

The gang and I had to wake up pretty early and head to school since we would be in the Gym most of the day. The teachers in charge thought it would be wise for us to practice and made sure everything was perfect for the night. Only a few selected students who worked with the lighting and sound knew it would be us performing and were ecstatic to see how things would go. Once we got to the Gymnasium we helped the other students either decorate and set up a stage along with all our instruments and mics. Soon the bell rang for lunch and the teachers told us to go eat and take a break since we’ve all been working hard. We all nodded and went to lunch the five of us headed to the usual table to see it crowded with a bunch of popular kids I noticed Subaru and Azusa sitting with them, the gang said they’ll wait at our awesome tree outside and I went to see if Subaru and Azusa wanted to escape since they looked uncomfortable. As I reached the table all the other popular kids besides my actual friends stared at me like I’m crazy, but I ignored it. “Hey guys, and other popular people” Angel looked happy to see me. “Sam! Where the hell have you been!?” she says sitting next to Reiji who smiled and said hello. I giggled “I’m helping with the dance you dork. Also I came to see if I can steal Subaru and Azusa and whoever else wants some fresh air” I smirked and Azusa, Subaru and Yuuma stood up and walked to my side. Some of the girls at the table glared at me but I ignored them. I saw Shuu was about to get up but Monica stopped him. Then she looked at me. “Hey Sam, do you have a date to the dance yet? With how pretty you are I’m sure you would but if not I know someone who would love to be your date!” I noticed Angel, Reiji and Ruki (all the Mukami boys don’t particularly like Monica and Ruki is protective over Sam for some reason since he is also knows the truth about Sam’s past) glare at Monica as she smiled innocently at me. “Actually she does. She’s going with me as my date. Right Sam?” Subaru says as he puts an arm around my waist. I blushed but felt all the glares from girls at the table. I looked at Shuu and Azusa and they looked shocked. “Um, yep Subaru is my date… He asked me the other day and I agreed, but thanks for the offer Monica” I forced a smile “well guys lets get out of here and with that the four of us turned and left the cafeteria. Once outside I sighed. “That girl is really mean to you…isn’t she Sam?” Azusa says as he grabs my hand something he always did when I felt overwhelmed or sad. I nodded and held his hand back. “Yeah…” Yuuma pat my head “cheer up, us three and Ruki of course since he is like your damn guard dog will be here to stand up for you” I only laugh. Yuuma was like the brother I always wanted. I would even call him big brother sometimes and he would call me little sister. We got to our awesome tree where Sheila and the others were. “Only managed to kidnap three eh?” Skye says as he drinks his monster. I look at him. “Dude, you have an addiction to those things.” He only shrugged and then laughed. For the rest of lunch we all laughed cracked jokes and talked about tonight. Azusa was going to ask me to the dance originally but got pressured but I promised him I would have at least one dance with him since Subaru would share a dance with Sheila since they lost a bet to Carlos and Yuuma. Our fun ended when the bell rang. The three of them headed for class as the gang and I headed back to the Gym. We had got all the decorations up and the lighting, the table where the food and drinks will be and the stage was set up with all our instruments all that was left was the sound check. After we did a full sound check and the teachers approved of all the songs it was about to be 7 and the dance starts at 8, so we were free to go and get changed. They let us use the green room that was for the drama students to get ready. I had to help Carlos with his tie since he couldn’t do it right. It took us about thirty minutes to get fully finished. We all looked at each other since we all tried to match in some ways and I must say we all looked great. The guys looked even better. “Wow guys, I don’t even recognize you” I giggled. “We could say the same thing about you and Sheila!” Ryan says cheerfully as he wraps his arms around our shoulders. “Anyways, ready to rock the stage Sam?” questions Skye while having his goofy smirk. I only nod “you bet!” the five of us laugh and a teacher comes in to see us. “You guys look great! Students are arriving as we speak so once everyone is here I will let you five know. Oh and be sure to have your masks!” and with that said the teacher left. I was a bit nervous but we practiced this for so long the past few months and weeks, even days. I just hope everyone else will enjoy it and if not I will still have a ton of fun with it.
