We get to the ranch just after lunch. You would think that I've been given a short life sentence. Everyone rushed out to the truck to help me walk to the house. They were crowding me too much. I finally had to say something when four of us tried to get through the same door.
"Ok that's enough. Geoff, Drake, and Gage, let me go through the door first. Then you guys can fight it out afterwards. I need some room. I have already almost hit my foot on someone three times. If that happens, you may see me cry..... hard and loud." I told them as we stood in the mudroom. It was like Moses and the Red Sea. Everyone parted and a path opened up. I hobbled into the kitchen then the hallway to the livingroom. I sat on the couch.
Anthony and Jordan both looked at me. Then each other. They worked together to put me in the middle of the couch and prop my leg on the ottoman. Then they both disappeared into the kitchen. Everyone of their brothers and Geoff, were standing there in shock. Martin and Reba were trying to hide their laughter.
I look at the statues. "Are y'all just going to stand there? Or get comfortable?"
Anthony and Jordan came back into the room with a lap tray and a plate of food, complete with a glass of coke. They sat on either side of me and did everything but hand feed me.
"Guys! I can feed myself. My leg is broken. Not my arms or hands. I do appreciate it though."
They both agreed to relax a little. "Anything you want, beautiful." Anthony said.
Jordan nodded his head. "Just say the word."
"Does anyone know what happened to my phone? I had it with me when I fell." I looked around.
Reba stood up. "I actually found it this morning. The battery was dead. It may have a little charge on it."
She got my phone and unplugged the charger. Then she handed me the phone. I had twenty missed calls and texts. Some were from Anthony. Most were from work. I decide to deal with them later.
We sat and talked. I got to know Martin and Jordan better. We ate supper. It was after supper that Anthony asked the question on my mind.
"So what happens to the fu... idiot who hurt Sierra?"
"He will work until he has paid off all of Sierra's doctor bills. After that, he will be unemployed. I will put out word of what happened and people will know that he is irresponsible. He will also come and give Sierra a heartfelt apology." Martin answered his son as he looked at me.
I nodded my head. I'm starting to get a bit tired. But I have to wait until nine o'clock to take my meds. Someone knocked on the backdoor. Martin stood to answer it.
"Are you ok, sweetheart?" Jordan asked me quietly.
"Yeah, just tired, but I'm ok."
"When do you take your medicine next?" Anthony asked.
"Nine o'clock. I also have to change my bandages before bed." I lay my head on the back of the couch as Martin walks in ahead of the two guys that I pointed out yesterday.
Next thing I know, Anthony was taking the bandage off my leg. Geoff was there with the supplies needed to tend my leg wounds. The guy who had grabbed me watches what Anthony is doing. He isn't phased until he sees the entire twenty stitches. Then he winced.
He started his apology as he avoids looking at my leg. He sounds sincere, but I have a question. "Why did you try to get me off the fence? You've never even met me."
"I saw you and thought to show off. I was going to sit you on my horse and get a kiss before I let you down. I meant no harm. You shouldn't have a foot tangled with a post."
